What is dumb about the idea Russia would ask us for what they want? It's logically preferable to fighting a war, and it is instrumental to negotiation. Keep in mind that Russia doesn't have an enormous military the way Nazi Germany did. And even then, Hitler accepted surrender from his opposition. He made his goals very clear as he was carrying out his mission. Putin has made his goals clear, and he is not a Hitler. Not even close. You should pay closer attention to Russia's demands.

Ukraine is not a real nation. Look up the difference between nation and state. It's not just him saying that. Look at the electorate. Look how divided it is. It's an artificial construct, much like several nations in North Africa were, and the result was chaos, and that's exactly what happened to Ukraine. In Ukraine, you have people who are ethnically Romanian, Polish, native Ukrainian, and then Russian all trying to coexist.
