Mario is voiced by Chris Pratt and Luigi is voiced by Charlie Day (from Always Sunny). Apparently Donkey Kong is in this and he'll be voiced by Seth Rogan, lol.

It looks competent enough. So I'll check it out. I'll probably have to drag my niece to go see it so I don't come off as a creeper going into a cartoon movie by myself as a grown ass adult.

I think they're trying to distance themselves from that movie as much as possible so, no I don't think he's going to be voicing a character in this movie. It you remember that movie flopping scared Nintendo away from movies based on their IPs for over 30 years.

There was also a live action Legend of Zelda series that was going to be released on Netflix that got cancelled simply because someone leaked the news about the series prematurely.

I have confidence that it will be alright. Miyamoto himself has been overseeing all aspects of the film and that I'm aware of he's old school, and has not been on board with all the woke stuff. And it makes sense. If they make a well established character gay that would reverberate throughout all the games they make featuring that character as cannon.

Initial reaction is I'm not a huge fan of Pratt doing Mario - I don't get why there needs to always be a movie star doing these voice overs. Would be the one thing you think studios could gamble on and give talented VA a chance in.

At the same time, I could see a world where they ran through having the "classic" Mario voice do the whole thing and maybe that would get annoying after two hours?

There was a Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers movie that came out this past summer and they did the same thing, just gave the characters a normal speaking voice and not that annoying "chipmunk pitch"

Chris Pratt still sounds weird as Mario regardless. Even if classic mario would be too annoying for an hour+, surely there is someone with a tinge of Italian accent that would have made the character sound good and somewhat traditional.
