We are entering the consequence phase of a decade of innapropriately low interest rates and govt spending. Many companies have become bloatlords on debt and addicted to cheap money. Now that that well is drying up and the cost of a heavy debt load is becoming a reality, expect the middle class to get the boot. Right now we are down 23% in the S and P 500, but after that massive rally of 2020/2021, we have only shaved off a year of "growth" and look how bad we are positioned going forward. Inflation is tied to aspects of the economy we have no short term solution to, and the Feds solution to inflation is tightening all other aspects of the economy that they can touch.

Is anyone predicting any economic growth in the coming years? We are basically guarenteed to have increasing unemployement, stagflation, increased gas and higher potential for war than in previous years...so yeah chit year leading into a chit 5 years globally.

Save up your loose change, this may be the last chance to gobble up assests until we all get priced out for good.

I don’t use TikTok, but IG isn’t nearly as good as it was 2-3 years ago. My IG is mostly filled with people who travel and a lot of DJs, and the number of people traveling right now is hilariously low. And this is out of my extended friend group, which is filled with wealthy people who generally are traveling like 50%+ of the year.

I'm at work now and nobody talks they just listen to politics radio or podcasts. Like there is no community. Everyone acts cold af. I try to talk to people sometimes but they can't even pay attention for more than 8 seconds before looking back at their screens

For me, it's because I'm the only one (a long with 1 other dude who is allowed to work remotely), it pisses off the others. But I don't care and neither does the CEO of the company. If they forced me to come in, the company would be forced back to the stone ages. I have no intention of leaving though, love it here.

I think the end of the "america" and the "west" as we all knew it as kid growing up is dead.
at really any major metro area in the us, the cities and outlining suburbs are basically majority immigrant. in poor areas its hispanic immigrants. in upper middle class areas its tons of h1b indians, asians etc.

I've been going to open houses recently as Im considering buying a home and almost every time I'm one of the only white person there looking (and these are in majority white areas). not even any african americans. no one born in the usa.

seems like most my coworkers aren't even born in the usa nowadays.

in about 30 years it will be even more pronounced. feels like country is losing its identity.

been a pretty epic year for me.

Ya, all that other stuff mentioned itt is sort of chitty, but really, how does it actually affect me? Like, actually affect what I do?

Got covid this spring. It was great! Away from work for a week, stayed at my cabin in the bush...the first day I had 40 fish in the boat before lunch time. Back to cabin, feeling tired by afternoon, sleep for a few hours, then chill.


Been applying stoicism to my life and man, its like a cheat code for life. I no longer have to get all worked up about things. Fuk letting what others do affect my thinking.

Bad chit has been happening to people and the world for forever. People just happen to have turned into a bunch of slack jawed ****ggots and think that THEIR challenges are somewhat extraordinary, or unique.

This. This year was worse than the lockdown. Extremism has reached a whole new level. We've also reached a new level of economic and existential uncertainty. I personally can't remember a worse year.
