Some ******* just abandoned a hamster at my complex

went to get my mail and there's this hamster in a cage with it's supplies and a box. waited around for an hour and nobody claimed it. problem is it appears to have a tumor. there was a girl and her homie there and she said she would take it if nobody claimed it, or call around to see if an animal hospital would take it. waiting on that as we speak. for now it's inside with me.





I'm not sure what to do with it yet if she doesn't contact me. I can't really be in charge of this right now.

after a bit of googling, male hamsters tend to just have really huge balls that can swell for whatever reason

Likely not acceptable. If the animal is domesticated, you've never really given it a chance to develop its skills, innate or otherwise, to survive in the wild.


If you've gotten a pet, it's your responsibility through thick and thin. Living creatures aren't toys you can just change your mind about and simply abandon.

Little guy is still here. No call from anyone. I called an animal hospital about treating and sheltering this hamster and she recommended me an animal care center. That place says it's an exotic and they don't deal with them. I said A HAMSTER IS AN EXOTIC?! Then she put me through to some other place and now I'm waiting to hear back from someone else. If it doesn't pan out, the guy isn't in any obvious pain, he gets around ok, and it's not too big of a deal if that's all I have to do is give him a home. I have 2 other cats already and my ferret last year had to be put down. I have a relative that is willing to take it.
So not too bad now.
