Just went down a DEEP Wikipedia rabbit hole on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan

How no politician went to jail for any of this just further proves how fuked the world is.

I literally can't imagine having a son that was killed in these wars and not absolutely lose my chit on someone. Or be a vet who came home completely messed up for absolutely nothing.

We went to Afghanistan, toppled the Taliban, some politicians and their crony's got rich, young men died, and then the Taliban took the country back.
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

Yeah. Hopefully more people wake up to America's terrible foreign policy. Al Qaeda had like under 200 people in Afghanistan. Omar even offered to try Bin Laden there and asked for evidence. (Understandably, he felt obligated to help him given Bin Laden's service to Afghanistan during the Soviet war.) What did we do? We decided to invade a sovereign nation of 21 million people at the time. Over that. And coincidentally, Afghanistan shares a border with Iran and China. Hmm...

Oh and Omar offered to turn Bin Laden over when we began the invasion. Bush refused. LMAO

https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...tan.terrorism5

And yes, Iraq was a total chitshow. Here's a fun clip.

Food for thought. I urge everyone to look into the history of the war in Donbass. Look who we are siding with (nazis) and what we did. Our foreign policy establishment is really off the rails. They care only for American dominance. And 3 decades of abject failure won't help them learn that blowback is a thing.

I find Battle of Tora Bora interesting.

US Special Ops and CIA almost got Bin Laden. It was the largest Special Ops in US military history.

It had involevment from all branches.

But Bin Laden somehow slipped away into Pakistan.

Lol at trusting Wikipedia. Very biased information there. I believe they don't even allow Fox News to be used as a source.

The Wikipedia today versus the Wikipedia ten years ago is massively different. You are allowed to blatantly lie if your admin level is high enough.

If you want a better foreign policy, I strongly encourage checking out the recommendations of The Quincy Institute, Tulsi Gabbard, Rand/Ron Paul, Thomas Massie, Jeffrey Sachs, Bernie Sanders, and even (to a very limited extent) Donald Trump.

I would never serve this country again or go to war at the request of any of these pieces of human garbage currently in Congress.

I never paid attention to politics during my military career, and that's probably the only reason I was so enthusiastic to do it.

Not to mention most of the people in this country aren't worth fighting for.

I give Trump for standing up to China.

Also he called Germany out on not paying the US enough to hold military in Germany

Every time I see George W. Bush on TV I get rustled. It’s sickening how people praise him as some goofy grandfather now. The man is responsible for millions of deaths and yes despite everything we’re going through, Dubya was a worse president than Biden could ever be. Srs.

Dick Cheney should be rotting in a prison cell right now.

Has China attacked us? Standing up to them for what? Trump instigated a trade war and fomented conflict where there was none for political gain. Trump has good recommendations on some things, but he was dead wrong about China. And it can become a self fulfilling prophecy.

If the wars were bull chit, and the catalyst to justify them was 9/11, does this mean you are now questioning the official narrative of 9/11 too?

If so I have some documentaries for you to watch.

This is a segue from the main topic, but I can confirm. I ended up becoming a fairly experienced editor on Wikipedia. I had other users instigate edit wars on material that I introduced, and when I called for moderation, the discussion was completely one-sided. For whatever reason, although I would admit to certain mistakes or make qualifications, the other people against me would admit to ZERO, despite them completely ignoring certain protocol and standards, and completely refusing to acknowledge how they might have been in the wrong AT ALL. One time, this culminated in an admin issuing a temporary block on me, but nobody else involved, without issuing a single warning based on any protocol or rule whatsoever, and refusing to offer any explanation afterwards. It was a clear-cut case of corruption.

I also had an article I put up once completely deleted. In the deletion discussion, where everybody sided against me, there were clear violations of protocol and some reasonings from opposing parties were completely off-base. The problem was that when I kept making the article better and better and actually raised the standards and did what other people suggested/wanted me to do in terms of improving the article in clear accordance with Wikipedia quality standards, that's when the opposition got even worse. I think that what was happening was that I was proving my antagonists wrong, which is what REALLY made them mad and ramped up the aggression.

There is even a truism that exists on Wikipedia that is explicitly stated on one of their information pages - the truism of "Deletionists rule Wikipedia". That has definitely been my experience.

Sorry to digress from a topic that is more important than my digression, but it has been my personal experience. I have completely stopped my efforts there.

Iraq now has a Central Bank with US Dollars as the sole reserve.

Afghanistan has a Central Bank with US Dollars as the sole reserve currency.

Although these nations are now "sovereign", once people start trusting the currency they are officially our bitch.

America just isn't well suited to empire. It's just too isolated. The great empires were always connected overland except for the British empire which was just lucky to come along at a time when they had just had a massive technological leap forward while the rest of the world were still living in mud huts.

Soldiers are suppose to die for the interest of their country. There is no and ifs or buts about it. If you don't like it, then fight for your cause(and see how many people will back you). Politicians are the brain and they should be the ones making the high IQ decisions. If that means your son dies, so be it. That's just the way it is. If there were no soldiers to fight and die, you'd get your chit pushed in even harder.

That said, there are blatant decisions made by politicians that are just plain stupid and they should pay the price. For example, supporting Ukraine is just blatantly stupid. Exerting muscle on foreign countries is blatantly stupid - in fact, exerting muscle is one of the best ways to get your chit pushed in by other kingdoms in the future - its how the most powerful militaries back then got their chit pushed in.
