Based on the story given it seems like the attacker wasn't mentally stable, I don't see how it would be virtue signalling by admitting that. It wasn't a planned-out attack like a bank robber shooting witnesses.

I live in a "red" county in Florida and I just got back from 7 eleven half an hour ago for 6 beers. The place looked like something out of a zombie movie there were 10-12 homeless people there, some with bicycles, others just sitting by the entrance, a few standing by the entrance, and a few wondering around harassing people at the pumps for money. When I was walking in one of them tried to reach out and shake my hand and said something, I said dont touch me and didnt look at him and just went inside. Its like that everywhere here now. Cant go anywhere for groceries or pump gas or go to an eye doctor or anything without getting harassed by these drugged out zombie people. Its dangerous. I carry mace but my experience is that if you call cops for help if they show up they try to fuk with you and bait an arrest or just make up **** like they assume I am a 6 year old lying about eating candy they can trick into saying **** to arrest me. I hate this place

It's wild how we just ignore these crazy, aggressive homeless dudes and they just exist on the streets as a problem that is largely ignored and swept under the rug. Even with something like this happening, nothing will change. Your regularly scheduled program will continue until something like this happens again, and again, and again, and again..

Homelessness and mental health are two big issues none of the people in positions of power seem interested in actually doing anything about.

Not all homeless people are mentally ill, furthermore, it also depends on the type of mental illness. If someone is not all there mentally i.e a schizophrenic hearing voices telling them to do bad things then no amount of punishment is going to deter them from their crimes.

I don't see how this has anything to do with my post. Yes, some homeless people are mentally ill and incapable of functioning in regular society, and because of this belong in a mental hospital. The rest need to get a job.
