I stopped by the most notorious cemetery in the world!

Check out the tour of the St. John Cemetery in Queens where many of the most infamous mobsters in New York's history/most powerful criminals in the world are buried. They were bad guys but they still had an incredible amount of influence on American history.

I lived in ghettos for a long time. Mostly as I am a redneck and that's where I could afford to live in the city, which is not uncommon.

Strangely enough, the people I could relate most with were gangsters. In the first ghetto it was a local independent gang who called me family.

They were generally tough and rebellious people, very confident in who they were and not ashamed of it. Not perfect, but they didn't hide it either.

Now, I don't agree with the harmful things that they did, but one thing I did find in common is that they were open about their faith in Jesus Christ.

If you think about it, Christ went out of His way to spend time with people that society rejected and neglected, which is what the ghetto is about.

There is a Heaven for gangsters if they truly seek the mercy of God and put their faith in the Almighty. That's between them and God alone.

Don't need to watch as I know the cemetery well.

On Queens, though, that space would have better served as a green area - a huge park for leisure/relaxation, which the people there sorely need. Raising kids on a concrete playground isn't fantastic.

Which borough are you from/in, OP?

Ya know, St. John Cemetery is very peaceful place though. I haven't been to a cemetery like that in years but the open space, plush trees/bushes and creative tombstone structures made me feel very tranquil.

There was this pizza place on Queens Boulevard called 'Philomena's' - probably the best in the city. I'd go out there with my woman and we'd walk in the cemetery after - it is special. I have been to others, like the Addolorata Cemetery in Malta, which also has a really special character.

Don't get me wrong - it's more that Queens needs more of those parks, like Brooklyn has, and in west Queens not to have to head out to Flushing for some greenery or into the city.

So I'm making a video about Greenwood also. A few weeks ago I took footage of Greenwood Cemetery and man what a BEAUTIFUL place. A gorgeous lake, forrests, monumental tombstones. I've lived a mile away from it for almost 20 years and never went inside until then. I noticed quite a few people just taking leisurely walks there, very peaceful.

Awesome. If you watched The Irishman then you recognize the name Joey Gallo, I took some footage of his grave and a few others at the other big cemetery in Brooklyn, Greenwood.

There is a tiny mostly hidden "famous haunted" one in my city and I walked around it once. Some of the headstones were so old they were hard to read anymore, but some of the people there DIED in the 1820s. So those are sites of people born in the 1700s. Obviously not the oldest in the country, but very amazing being so old.

There's probably an equal amount of parks in both boroughs I've been to several in Queens but am not as familiar as I am with Brooklyn.
