Motorcycle brahs
Been thinking about getting my motorcycle license. I’ve always wanted one, but faced significant pushback from family that it’s too dangerous. But now I don’t really care since I’m independent.
Should I go for it? What is a good first bike?

Knew someone that got obliterated while riding his bike.
Freaking in FL where they have those median left turn into highways.
He was blasting alone and someone pulled out in front of him.
Game over.
I used to ride but my area is so loaded with traffic now and people fuking around on their phones while driving. Had some fuker rear end the car behind me at stand still and pushed into me.
Basically, just understand it wont be you that fuks up but someone else.

I dont trust other drivers anymore, mostly because of cellphones. I rode for about 10 years back in the early 2000s and even then I had a few close calls. Cant imagine riding now. I dont fault anyone who still rides though, its pure joy being out on a bike. Just know that you can die at any moment at no fault of your own.

you have to remember that no matter how much you practice or how good of a rider you are, all it takes it one retarded driver on the road to end your life. when you ride a bike you have to be extra aware and you realise just how many bad drivers there are.

Here in Philippines, millions of motorcycles. Accidents happen everyday, from minor ones to RIP. Wouldn't risk it unless you live in a nice area with responsible drivers. No matter how careful you are, if a crazy driver hits you, you're the one who will most likely suffer.

Great idea. Motorcycles are great fun and one of the best ways to clear the mind.
Tons of perfectly good used bikes on places like craigslist.
For your first one I would look in the mid range size wise. not something too small like a scooter. Not enough power to get your out of danger. Of course on the other end, you dont need something overpowered either that you cant handle. Easy to get in over your head with the power. They will always be around so save that for your second bike.
Key is to not trust other drivers and assume they are all out to get you because pretty much they either dont see you or do see you and want to kill you. srs. Perfectly normal people have no problem with running a bik off the road on their way to work like you somehow deserved it.
Leave yourself an escape route all the time.
get a decent helmet. Doesnt have to be top of the line but not a walmart special either. I have an hjc and it works fine. Bounced the noggin off the ground pretty hard and it was fine. would have been dead probably had I not had it.

Get one op, what type bikes do you have your eye on? Crotch rockets, dual sports, harleys, etc.

I was considering this myself until I read Sonny Bargers book (founder of hells angels).... He basically wrote the book to warn people about how dangerous motorcycling is LOL; not what I had expected from him.
I basically decided that I would instead buy an E-bike AT BEST because you can ride pedestrian paths on it. Maybe a dirt bike for weekends/side roads ONLY.
Almost every time Im in my car at a stoplight that turns green, the first row of cars doesnt start accelerating because theyre all on their phones..... Its fuking insane, but those are the people who have your life in their hands when youre on a motorcycle.

Used to ride and had so many close calls, after I started a family I gave it up. Riding though was awesome, sometimes better than sex, ded srs. Still daydream about getting a bike again but I just can't since I have kids. Don't ride at night, dont ride in the rain, dont ride during traffic... just keep away from vehicles. Friends cousin just got blasted coming out of a side street to a main street late at night, dead at 21. Das not it mane.

Could start with a dirtbike and ride it off the road on trails or your local moto track
As others have said riding a motorcycle is pretty much the best thing ever, but you're just playing with death. It feels so good because you are breaking the laws of nature and your brain is so incredibly stimulated and in a flow state.

Never thought I would stop riding, but a few years into having a kid and a few really close calls later, I packed it in. If you are young, single and RESPONSIBLE, having a motorcycle gives you such a feeling of freedom and desire to roam…it is awesome. Nothing like it really.
But, some stupid Karen on a cell phone can fukk you up pronto. Worst case, you survive. There was a young guy at my gym, fake arm, fake leg from the hip and other leg fake from knee down. Car pulled out right in front of him in plain site middle of the day. He has told me he wished he died…fukkin sad and fukkin sucks man. Young healthy guy doing nothing wrong…wasn’t even a crotch rocket jackass.

Look for a used hayabusa. Usually 5-6k for a beat up one.
Make sure it doesn't have sissy stuff like anti-lock brakes or traction controls.

Get as much power as you can for a first bike, 1000cc minimum. You want the crash when some jerk cuts in front of you to be lethal, not just stay a quadriplegic.

The levels up from a standard 600 or 1000 are out of my imagination like h2 with 300bhp and some dragster GSXes that go up to 750bhp. Mind does not compute how you can even hold on to the handlebars and not fall off when full blasting.

Another piece of advice i would add is be careful of the people you ride with.
I tried group rides, but they always seem to be riding reckless, and the slower riders try to catch up to them which makes it an unsafe enviroment and have witnessed several wrecks.

Agree. I recently bought a dual sport bike that I really just use for offroad trails. Basically it's a street legal dirtbike. I only drive it briefly on the road to get to the trails, and never on highways. I went riding with a ******** group the other day and had to go faster than my comfort zone to keep up. I had a lot of fun but prefer riding solo or with someone on the same page. These dudes will fall/crash, break a bone, then go back to riding as soon as it heals like it's no big deal.
But IMO motorcycles are suicide machines. I always shake my head seeing bikers on the highway going 60/70 mph. It just looks stupid. Offroading is safer because you don't have to worry about 3 ton machines driven by women turning you into roadkill. And I hardly ever go above 25mph anyway.

I drove by a motorcyclist’s decapitated head on the busy freeway in the morning about 5 minutes after it happened to the lane next to me on a weekday when everyone is driving to work earlier this month. Not sure what happened but it was shocking since I’ve never seen a dead person on the road that close before, now I’m not interested in riding a motorcycle anymore. Too many idiots on the road.
