All a temporary measure for midterms. The high price of diesel isn't going away (and thus the price of food and other goods you buy in stores will remain high) so long as we keep propping up Ukraine and the sanctions against Russia. The US has heavily depended on finished petroleum distillates used in making diesel from Russia. Now we don't have enough. But refiners can't just switch back and forth from gasoline and diesel quickly, and they're making as much gasoline as possible to relieve what consumers see at the gas pump. To make more diesel less gasoline will be produced. There is no spare capacity.

Brandon and a Democrat Congress show zero interest in helping the US get back some of its lost refining capacity, since the Greens have so much sway over policy. So inflation will remain relatively high despite interest rates raised by the Fed Res. Housing and rent prices going down for the next couple of years will pull down inflation pressure, but that of course comes with a cost of its own. A report from Bloomberg Business says the odds of a recession are 100% in the next 12 months. That will bring down energy prices and inflation, but at the cost of millions of jobs. It didn't have to be like this. Democrats giving up being so anti-fossil fuels could have avoided the current and upcoming mess.

It probably has 2 more years of life left in it. It will probably get much bigger in spring or early summer 2023, since by then recession will be undeniable. Dems will blame it on Republicans in Congress just a few months at that point, but it's been an inevitability for some time. Housing crashing will put a hurting on GDP. Even rents are starting to go down. The blame game stupidity will run rampant. Biden will be personally responsible for some of it, but not all of it. Ditto on the Federal Reserve.
