I feel like there is a really great oppurtunity for a Thunderpants reference in here but it eludes me.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Full autopilot and playing candy crush, never even looking out the window to notice a fooking huge lightning storm ahead.

This. I feel like a pussy for admitting it but I’m fuking PETRIFIED of flying. Last flight I had my first panic attack in about 7 years before takeoff. Spent the whole 2 hour flight in full blown terror. Never get anxiety like that anymore but planes freak me the fuk out. And I fully understand that statistically they’re the safest form of travel. Doesn’t matter. My mind won’t accept it.

Yeah curious what the investigation will uncover. Pilots sleeping on auto-pilot. I would probably not fly for years after that

Fark at least turn the lights on to mitigate the effect of the flashes. Sitting in the dark like that whilst all that goes on is like a terror showground ride.

That being said, i agree with the poster above about accepting death on every flight. I just keep drinking the scotch until i can fall into a drunken stupor.

Cannot fly sober crew checking in.

Literally got this **** down to a science, how much I need to drink and how often in-flight to keep it going.

When I am sober, I am basically in a state of terror with a lump in my throat...even with no turbulence.

When I drink, not a single **** is given. Very big difference. What's funny is, drugs don't help at all, only alcohol. Go figure.

I am surprised there isn't a huge business out there making money on people who are nervous to fly. From some kind of pills being given out on a plane....or possibly induced sleep with a waiver? People that are terrified of flying will pay anything to make it seem as short as possible.

Unless it was a squall line that formed unexpectedly, seems like its pilot error flying into and through it. Why were they flying so low to get caught up in the hailstorm anyways

This. Every dip were you feel the plane drop a little all that goes through my mind is "well, this is it". Scariest one that got me one time was we were taking off and not that far into take off I felt it drop a little, kind of quit climbing and was weightless, heard the engines change tone, really though that was it and had nightmares about it after.

Anyways, I drive when I can. What can I say, I'm a manlet, I was designed to be close to the ground. That's where I stay.

Fairly certain everyone on that plane was 100% sure they were going to die.

Bruh that dip is the flaps coming up. They are lift generating devides that allow the plane to take off at a slower speed. Slower is safer. Once the plane is in the air they are no longer needed and they are pulled back up. The reduction in lift is what you are feeling. Its not a loss of lift, its just a slight reduction in your climb rate.

Second, the engine thrust is reduced because there is a legal limit of 250 knots below 10,000 feet. Once you pass 10,000 feet you will hear them spool up to a higher thrust setting to reach their cruising speed.

It's crazy brah as a huge drinker...I actually hate drinking on flights brb gotta use the bathroom again brb why is there a queue? brb might wanna join the mile high club, but in all seriousness my best stories come from flying lol met a Russian chick and dated her for a while back in 2012...I wonder where she is these days...
