Floyd is probably the closest (different style ofc) but yeah. i know you won't listen to it because you've already dismissed them in your head (i understand, a lot of Tool fans are crazy, but they're music is next level when you understand it srsly).

Not sure, but a lot of his work is inspired by DMT and if I had to guess I’d say it’s something along these lines:

The eyes outside of the body represent God and/or the universal nature of consciousness. The third eye is a concept that tool subscribes to, and it seems like the artist may be using eyes to highlight other chakras(the heart and throat chakra). And there is a force pouring out of the heart chakra and into the rest of Creation, so it seems to highlight the importance of love and sharing your love with the Universe. Also take note that the figure is holding up his right hand, and has an eye there which seems to indicate he leans towards right handed magic(which would again emphasize connecting with God over the individual).

sounds alot like hardcore punk lyrics just more beta

personally i think their music is really outdrawn and boring yet for some reason its get a lot of praise by the hardcore fans. i never got it. i do like the drumming and style is unique and very different but just not my taste. but i dont get why so many people think its so great.

Yeah for as great as Maynard is as a vocalist, he’s probably equally as good of a lyricist.

I love TOOL. I’ve seen them in concert 4 times. The lyrics and the rhythm is just amazing.

Art by Alex Grey. Him and his wife run some creepy cult compound up in NY, I think they got in trouble recently for how they treated "volunteers" there. (IE people who worked for free cuz they were fans of their art / Tool.)

Never cared for Tool. I used to joke the "most intriguing thing about Tool is their album art." But after hearing about the artist and his wife and them being sketchy, I stopped saying that. Much like Tool, that guy seems to only know how to do ONE thing...that weird body style art you mentioned. And he just does that over and over and over.

Agreed, the music is incredible. The only knock I have is that they have not really evolved much at all. But again I think they’re amazing so if you find a recipe that works then it makes sense to stick with it. Plus it seems Maynard just uses his other bands for creating different music.

And I’d say tool is definitely in the top 3 concerts I’ve been to(too hard to pick a winner out of those three- with the other two being Smashing Pumpkins and None Inch Nails)
