Sewing (needle and thread) question

I wear short sleeve polo shirts to work with company logo on it. I would roll up the sleeves 2 turns and then secure them in place with fabric glue. The fabric glue eventually comes undone and I have to use more glue. The glue bleeds through the fabric and shows. I got 5 new shirts, rolled up the sleeves 2 turns then sewed them in place. Needle in, needle out, tie a knot, cut, repeat 2 inches over. I washed the shirts for the first time and some of the knots came undone. I know nothing about sewing. Should I be using one continuous piece of thread to do the entire sleeve?

To answer the question, use an iron on fusible tape to first join the 2, then sew with one piece of continuous thread.

Take them to a good upholstery shop and have them put some furniture tacks into your arms.

Or you could find a dry cleaner/alterations shop. Shouldn't be very expensive to hem the sleeves. Might even find someone on craigslist. Or if you have a fabric store that sells sewing machines/gives sewing lessons they probably can refer you to someone.

Take a long piece of thread and put one end through the eye of the needle to the middle of the length of thread.

The thread should hang down both sides like it doubled.

So basically you are sewing with two threads every stitch. Make the stiches closer together, maybe 1/8 to 1/4 apart. Sort of go around the seam part. Up through the fold and shirt, down through the shirt itself. Going around the edge of it if that makes sense.

Just do this until you have the seam long enough. Tie it off with a few square knots. For a shirt sleeve you should be using a few feet of thread just to give you an idea.

Take it to a dry clean shop and have them do it with a machine. Should only cost $5 per shirt.
