We are losing our democracy!

What the unholy fuk does this NPC chit even mean?

"This is a threat to our democracy!"
"We are losing our democracy!"
"Make sure you cast your ballots this midterm election -- our democracy is at stake!"
"A vote for ______ is a vote against democracy!"

The only way that could possibly make sense was if the consequences of whatever they are upset about could lead to an authoritarian or totalitarian state. But of course the people who say that **** are always in favor of bigger government, which is somehow conducive to more democracy because governments have nothing to do with governments and their elected officials controlling the population.

But why the fuk with this crap? What do these dumbasses think democracy is?

Democracy always devolves into tyranny.

US elections are really just the elites paying lip service to us peasants so we feel heard/special and re-elect them (assuming the election isn't rigged anyway)

I love how it doesn't even make philosophical sense.

If you don't have a choice it's not democracy anymore , so if only choice to participate in democracy is to vote only one way this is not democracy anymore and in this way what is being saved or protected ?

The Freudian slip here by NPC's is that we all KNOW democracy is no more with us and the reaction is to not participate at TWO PARTY ONE OLIGARCHY scam anymore. It's a circus and charade , a pretty cliche thing to say - but under this circus lots of people getting clowned are you , me and other people and it's a pretty sad picture of our reality.

In a way there is nothing to be saved by voting either way by now

The federal government can't even do anything about abortion. And if they could, why didn't they when they had full control of house, Senate, WH? People are this stupid.

The threat to our democracy are low information voters whether they are left or right.

We need a political literacy test.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Yep. First of all we aren't even technically a Democracy, so I don't know why they endlessly parrot that. Secondly...Democracy is actually an objectively terrible idea - and Socrates, Plato, etc. were pointing this out like 2500 years ago at it's birthplace (and this was even with it being only men voting, oh man how scathing their critiques would have been if women had been involved as well).

Vote against us and don't buy into our lies = threat to democracy
Freedom of speech is a principle pillar of a free government; when this support is taken away, the constitution of a free society is dissolved and tyranny is erected on its ruins.

You shouldn't be allowed to vote if you cannot read a proposal and make complete sense of the jargon.

I remember reading the proposals on a California ballot and getting angry with how some of them are written to intentionally cause confusion.

How many vote without even reading them (at least in their entirety) to begin with? I'm guessing the majority.

Too many. The Greeks accurately identified and described the idiot hundreds of years ago, and between then and now nothing has changed about the useful idiot: still willfully ignorant of the politics that surround their life, and still only valued for their susceptibility to rhetoric.

I imagine it would make my head spin. Completely out of my depth.

They did this chit during the last election season.

Just LOL@NPC ****guettes that think the US media isn't liberal propaganda. Care to guess who mostly runs these media outlets?

I wonder what it would take for braindeads to just connect the fooking dots.
