Ideal solution in my opinion:

Decide a price of tuition in real terms.

Retroactively pay everyone who paid more than this or lived in the era when school cost this much, so even those who skipped college receive money.

Fix future prices to a reasonable price in real terms. Probably something closer to 5k/yr.

You started out strong..........Tuition needs to be controlled

But are you actually suggesting pumping billions if not trillions more $ into the economy......have we not learned our lesson yet? Just lol

At some point, people need to have some personal accountability.

At some point people need to accept millions of kids got scammed by the government and giving them a break is far from the worst thing our government has spent money on

This.

As for "scammed by the government" I'm pretty sure not one single person was forced to agree to the terms of their student loans. However chitty those terms might be, they were voluntarily accepted, and that responsibility lies with the individual and no one else.

Moving forward the system does need a LOT of fixing to be truly viable, but that does not include hemorrhaging billions more taxpayer dollars to the benefit of only one subset of the population. (Those that took out student loans and are unable to repay them because they chose chit degree/career paths)

Nah

I’ll accept this when the government stops hemorrhaging trillions on the rest of the junk they waste it on.

I mentioned those without loans also get paid. The government will not do small steps like this without more pork than these costs you're worried about, and they will go to worse causes.

Most are not functionally adults still in HS when they commit to the system of these college costs. Regardless, allowing scams like this does not make sense.

So in 10 years are people who bought their house with a 7% IR going to get reimbursed.....what about people who bought cars at 40% above MSRP?

What about people who are drowning in Medical debt......most of who had no choice in that.....are they going to get their debt absolved?

Millions of kids didn't get scammed.....what about the millions of kids who took the loan, got their degree, got into the workforce and paid off their debt as planned? The kids who got "scammed" aren't victims of the governments lending, they're victims of their own stupidity.

and now they're being made to believe they truly are "victims" and are deserving of handouts.....which is part of the reason they cant pay back their loans in the first place.

JFL @ you thinking the American taxpayer isn't going to be cucked by student loan forgiveness after being cucked by the costs of a lengthy court battle.

Absolutely on the medical debt. That’s the second biggest scam in this country

Homebuyers can have some too if they just got handed a bunch of money they had no business qualifying for

Like that makes it any better. Reckless government overspending is exactly what has put us into our current economic predicament, and you want them to print MORE money to just hand out?

Agreed on the second paragraph though, which is why the legal voting age should be raised to at least 20 to give those kids the slightest taste of real life before they head to the voting booth. If they are too retarded to understand loan terms then they are damn sure too retarded to be helping select our government representatives. Or better yet go back to making property ownership a requirement and we can eliminate the rentard vote as well.

The entire subprime mortgage crisis of 06-07 was caused by exactly that and instead of bailing out the homeowners, the government bailed out the banks. The reason that they can't do that with student loans is because the government (being the retards that they are) underwrote all of those student loans-- thus the term, Federally Subsidized Student Loan Debt-- and thereby made themselves (that is, the American taxpayer) the guarantor of all of that irresponsibly lent money.

The cucking happened a decade ago when this outrageous legislation was rammed through by Obama and his massive congressional majority (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health...nt_loan_reform) and everyone was so busy debating Obamacare that this barely even came up, this is just the chickens coming home to phuck your wife.

They are going to either forgive the loans (by printing money) and turn it into votes or there is going to be a massive default crisis when all these zoomer trannies stop paying and which ever administration is in office is going to have to "solve" the crisis by printing money anyway. Like I said, the cucking happened long ago-- like always, the taxpayer is going to be left holding the bag.

There's no other option, except obviously people paying back their loans of course, but now that they've gotten the whiff of forgiveness just lol if you think anyone is going to be doing that ever again.

OK, so maybe we target loan forgiveness to those who got scammed. Because there are millions of kids for whom college worked out great. I know 26 year olds with $210k salaries. You think those 26 yr olds should get $10k forgiven? What about the 26 yr olds who didn't go to college and are making much less? What about those 26 yr olds who went to some state school over an ivy league because they had a scholarship and were concerned about costs? What about 31 yr olds who have already paid off their student debt?

If dems are srs, then they would propose a really low income cap, like $50k. I could get behind that. But they won't. Because this is driven by a bunch of privileged kids who want free chit. Like you.

No. Steal has to go through appeals and probably all the way up to SCOTUS. On the merits, this loses (SCOTUS did a ruling this summer setting the stage to strike down this forgiveness plan). But there are some procedural hurdles this has to pass before being heard on the merits, including "standing" - 50% chance this gets dismissed on a technicality.

Yeah, some effort is required to solve problems. It is not ideal on its own.

Option A: survival of the fittest
Option B: supporting health

I think Option B results in 10-20x as many healthy families to support the economy and world instead of draining

Not sure yet. Could get blocked, or could get upheld. Basically, there are two components at play:

1. procedural/technicality stuff: who has "standing" to bring a lawsuit (you can only bring a lawsuit if you are particularly injured by something - generally hard to show you areparticularlyinjured just because you are a taxpayer who bears the brunt of some dumb spending program). THere is a big quesiton mark if anyone really has standing to sue on student loan forgiveness. 50% chance (IMO) that this case gets dismissed because of lack of standing.

2. Merits: only if procedural hurdles are cleared will they hear the merits, the merits being "was Biden's unilateral student loan forgiveness constitutional". Due to some recent SCOTUS cases, and repulbican SCOTUS, 90% (IMO) that case succeeds on merits.

Cliffs:
- still has to go through appeals
- 50% chance it gets dismissed on technicality
- if it doesn't get dismissed on technicality, student loancels will be looking for rope
