I found it pretty realistic in the way they portrayed deaths.

The French soldier dying a slow agonizing death after being stabbed multiple times in the torso was brutally realistic, also the way he reacted when the main character resentfully approached him to administer aid and pulled the knife, the way the French soldier feared that action thinking he was going to get stabbed again even though I'm sure he knew he was dying, that was masterfully depicted.

Masterpiece. Watched in twice in two days.
Irrespective of the story, the actual crafting of the scenes in the film was superb, the music and sound was incredible. Kudos to all who helped create it.
It was obviously made by somebody deeply affected by the book, much like Peter Jackson with LOTR.

Solid movie that attempted to show the true cold/harshness of war - it's not pretty and in the end nobody wins (atleast not the common folk)
