The whole Crypto crash has spooked me.

Starting to consider if my money is safe in the bank & Investments?

What's not to say we can't withdraw cash soon?

Banks are going to collapse, there's symbology around it everywhere.

That's why they're targeting crypto right now. They want the entire world to use a centralized digital currency and need to get rid of the decentralized ones.

Yep, you know who couldn’t have the crypto currency threatening their banks so they conspired with the fed, bought and dumped a massive quantity of crypto

It's not over yet, but probably will be in the next 10 years. They'll eventually make it illegal to own decentralized currencies...

Their methods only work because of people not doing their research. Imagine trusting some slob with your money and then fudding the rest of crypto with it. It's the equivalent of you giving me your tomatoes, me losing your tomatoes and then you saying tomatoes are a scam.

Yeah this was definitely all planned. FTX was a major Ukraine donor and then also funneled it back to pay for dems' midterm. Guess they needed to pay up immediately. The world makes a lot more sense when you start to connect the dots like this.

the funniest thing about SBF is how all he really did (most effective trait) was following the Zuckerberg style that got everyone enamored 10 years ago. And that woman who ripped off the blood analysis scheme? investment banks for loads simply dressed like Jobs and talked like a man's voice.

shows you that there are just stupid people at the helm of all this stuff.

this was actually lulzily a scam even from the get go. honestly I think its cuz most of these guys are old IBs who are tired of fukin their wives ANY sniff of youth will get em to throw their money away.

Also explains why every single pharmaceutical rep is a hot white chick (seriously not kidding at all hired for looks).

btw: this bish aint hot ...something is off about her face. features disharmonious tbh (violating the first rule of beauty)...daily blackpill.

btw: had friend who workd at IB in NYC. told me that the odds that every single hire would be model attractive was impossible. all unqualified foids handling your money.

Crash??? Lol

You must be new to crypto and haven’t seen the historical charts…

Forget crypto, how about Amazon stock going from $150 to $5 to $2000?

You’d probably panic and sell at $5 lol

I have wondered how many investment houses will be hurt by the crypto ETF crash and will their be a domino effect. I hope not. As an example, I guess BlackRock has lost billions on crypto. Their other investments are not doing well either.

BlackRock Is Breaking the Wrong Kind of Records
Clients of the world’s largest asset manager lost an unprecedented $1.7 trillion in the first half’s market carnage.

A little different but read this morning too that politically the GOP plan to attack ESG investing, which some investment banks such as Goldman and BlackRock are big into. Glad ESG is being looked into but another will be interesting to see how that effects banks/investment houses and their sometimes lousy investments.

Republicans aim to turn ESG into 2024 liability for Democrats

Don't worry OP, bankers are responsible and socially conscious folks who have the interests of the common man in mind for all that they undertake.

I learned that North Korea, Russia, Iran, even China getting into Crypto as a way around sanctions and other financial barriers. Yeah, that gives some in high positions the desire to crash it.

Lets face it plebs, we are pocket change in the grand scheme of the investment world. The real fat cats dump millions at a time as small investments, billions is what they call real investing. Gamestop and wallstreetbets was one of the rare times the mice chases the cat for once and you know the cat isn't going to get into that position again. One thing about the fat cats, when they pull out one place, they are putting money other places. If they pull out of crypto you can bet they are either putting it somewhere else or planning to. My question is "What is the opportunity right now?" Shipping compressed natural gas to Europe? How about the good ole military industrial complex? A new cold war would be very profitable for them. Maybe a stalemate where it justifies an arms buildup at the borders?

FTX didn't crash. It was a ponzi scheme.

They were stealing the money off the exchange and reinvested it and their bets lost. So the ponzi came crashing down. Just like Bernie Madoff did with his investors money. Had nothing to do with the market, people tried to take their money out and it wasn't there.

Everyone's money is not perfectly safe in a bank. The bank makes money by collecting peoples money, and then loaning it out to other people with interest. The bank does not have everyone's money in cash at all times. This is called fractional reserve banking.
If everyone were to try to withdraw their money at the same time, the bank wouldn't have it. This is called a bank run.

Exactly.

you just described every single bank.

no bank in existence will survive a bank run without insurance. they are backed by the FED. this is the only difference.

For every dollar you deposit, they magically have $10

this is the same with every crypto exchange. When you log onto Binance to buy 1 bitcoin, they aren't buy just going to buy one. LMFAO

NO Crypto exchange will survive a bank run rn. I promise you. it's not regulated.

The funny thing is all these exchanges were doing the same thing, I'd expect all of them to collapse if bitcoin goes below 10k or a few other major tokens crash, if you don't have your crypto on some sort of cold storage device for after the Armageddon you've done investing wrong

If you have it in an FDIC secured bank and its under the FDIC limits then you are good. If its over that then may move some around to diversify losses.

Should be buying at these levels. BTC halving in March of 2024. Past data shows 15 months leading up to a BTC halving it moons. Hopefully history repeats itself.

This. And whatever accounts you have to use for regular expenses would be best held with a small local bank or credit union- some place with less derivatives exposure.

True. Lost count of how many times I have seen the Ukraine war referred to as a money laundering operation. Now it seems to be out in the open and *nothing is happening*.

Shouldn't the politicians who voted for the big Ukraine spending packages + benefited from fat campaign donation kickbacks be under fire? Investigated? Prosecuted? Removed from office for corruption?

The filthy whores are standing stark naked in broad daylight and it's all business as usual, move along plebs, nothing to see here.

IMO our only hope might be to have strictly regulated elections with exact amounts of airtime and government provided election money for each candidate + require federal pols to put their financial holdings into some sort of black box/blind trust while they are in office with the final kicker being the potential to lose all of their post-service government benefits if they are ever convicted of corruption in the service of private/corporate interests.

ESG is mainly the "woke"/net zero ideology used to control access to capital by corporations. Except it turns out that the ideology is chit for making a profit in most cases. Exceptions being companies that are getting generous government support.

- commodities
- precious metals and rare minerals
- addictive products/substances
- market arbitrage plays

There is a lot of cheap[ish] product piled up in warehouses, or so I hear. If you were bold, had loads of cash, and a long time horizon, you might do well to accumulate durable goods as prices drop due to demand destruction while the US$ is still relatively strong vs. other currencies.

Would avoid stuff that can be ruined easily in long term storage. Dollar store cheap type stuff, good quality essentials [tools maybe? medical equipment? cast iron/stainless steel cookware? camping gear?] which have a lot of embedded energy [labor, transport, electricity, etc.].

- if we get higher inflation/hyperinflation then probably the cheapest *useful* stuff will still have a market for sale and will demand a nominally higher price than what you have invested

- if we get deflation you have a bigger opportunity to pick stuff up for pennies and wait for "the new normal"

- if many developing nations collapse [inflation, famine, government overthrown] there goes the cheap manufacturing

- if the US$ fails as the global reserve currency then the price of imported goods would skyrocket meaning product in your warehouse would increase in value

- if we move to a CBDC your goods still have innate value

Small scale/shorter term I think that medical stuff [pain killers, antibiotics, herbal remedies, etc.], addictive substances [booze, coffee, cigarettes], and any long term storage food or stuff for growing food are worth a shot.

No, not really. Yes, that is what you are taught in school, but really they just create loans from nothing with a few keystrokes. The reserves are so small relative to the amount that they lend it is laughable.

Get the lack of regulation, but wasn't that kind of the point of crypto? That there would be a finite amount of currency and it would be secure?
