anyone here had to give up on there dreams due to uncontrollable factors?

I just dislocated my shoulder for the 5th time during jiu jitsu. I have already had $20k surgeries on both of my shoulders to stop it from happening. This is the first time its happened since surgery. I think the doc did a $hit job.

Now im at home drinking on a Wednesday because there is no positive outcome to this.

probably gonna need to be put on an involuntary psychiatric hold

I always wanted to special operations/special warfare but then I got diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes so I've been unable to join the military.

I wanted to go the Ranger > Special Forces > Delta Force route

At least I've been doing 3 Gun competitions and MMA/Combatives type martial arts.

I never understood why so many guys love BJJ as a hobby but get injured all the time from training a lot

No hobby is worth training to injury imo. Even though accidents can still happen when you train moderately

I ended up having to drop out of Law School because I had Multiple Sclerosis and couldn't do the work at the time.

Looking back, that ended up being a really good thing for me as I was going to Law School in 2010 and I likely would have spent the next 10 years trying to pay off $100k of debt with $50k per year jobs as the legal job market sucked and I'm not particularly well connected in Law. But at the time it was kinda devastating as I'd spent the previous 4-5 years putting all my eggs in that particular basket. Once I had to drop out, it was a terrible job market and I ended up having to establish myself in a 65 hour per week stressful Sales job while also dealing with Multiple Sclerosis symptoms and driving an hour each way to work.

But it turns out I'm actually really good in the right type of Sales, as I'm somewhat introverted but high intelligence, so I come off as very genuine and sincere, which is absolutely required for a certain wealth level of clientele. And now I'm more successful than I ever thought I'd ever be in my life. Currently doing $3M+ Real Estate Development projects, which isn't typically something a person in his 30s gets into. In 10 years, I went from being completely lost and thinking I'd be crippled and handicapped for life to being literal #1.

Everything has a workaround.

You also have to accept physical limitations. That for me was the hardest part of getting older.

Even though you love that sport, there are other you can do which will be equally satisfying.
