20 years old is not a "child"
Since when did we start referring to a 20 yr old as a child? I hear this all the time about 18-24 yr olds - being referred to as children. I believe they used to call them "kids" if they were your offspring (like as in "My 20 yr old kid won't get a job."), and called "adults" otherwise.
They keep referring to the Idaho students as "children" when they were 20 and 21.

20's not a child but the brain doesn't fully develop until 25. The body isn't fully developed by 20 either
So you're not actually a fully formed adult at that point even if you're mature mentally

Life expectancy has gone up from 50 in 1900 to 79 in 2020. Larger than a 50% increase. Yet ~18-20 years olds being the cut off for kids as the expectation hasn't changed. Now that 80s+ years olds are common place, perhaps the 30's should be where maturity is expected.

OP shroud reference the zoomers moving in with their parents thread. That is why 20 YOs are refereed to as children now. Some of them over there are actually proud of it too. Sad!

Watching freshmen in college and their moms are literally coddling the fuk out of them. One "clever" mom posted in a group that she is making her son's dorm bed with layered 7 sheets so he just has to take the top one off when it's dirty. Um - there will be liquids on the bed seeping through to the other sheets but that's beside the point. Why is she making his bed?
