What are we sipping on these days fellas?

I picked up some Makers 101 this morning, going to give it a try tonight. Finished up a bottle of Wild Turkey Rye last evening, really good stuff. Mixes well for old fashioneds.

Grabbed the Long Branch per your recommendation, did not disappoint.

Right now I am rotating between Bearface One Eleven Series (my favourite right now) and Monkey Shoulder.

Really enjoying both, would highly recommend.

McKenna 10 yo is scarce in Houston. It is definitely a solid drink.

Finally got around to trying the Makers 101.

Mother F'er this is some seriously good stuff. Tons of vanilla, butterscotch, real sweet but still a good amount of heat.

As excited as I was for Longbranch, I think I'm even more giddy for this MM101.

Grabbed 2 unicorns yesterday in the same store. I've been after Rowan's Creek for about 3 years since I tasted it in Kentucky but I've never seen it anywhere in Ohio or heard of anyone else finding it.

The Early Times BiB was another one I've seen mentioned a gazillion times in various groups and forums as a real secret value. Let me say, it does NOT disappoint. Amazing for $23.

Both are semi-easy to find here, I usually when giving a gift or starting a coworker/friend into whiskey let them take a bottle of Early Times, that stuff is ungodly smooth and tasty.....and for low 20's a bottle.....best gift giver ever.

Rowan's Creek and Noah's Mill I bought a few years ago, to be honest they didn't stand out among other bottles I had.

Big into ryes? My cheap go to that even stands up to Whistle Pig line up.....Old Overholt, theres a few flankers of percentages of their rye but they are easy easy sippers with nice profiles. I cannot stand the fresh cut grass or mint notes in some ryes, these are truly candied Christmas cake type profiles.

Just LOL at the piss ass job my Pixel is doing in portrait mode on anything other than faces. Look at those soft blurry edges! SAD!!

Just picked up a semi-rare bottle of Blade & Bow today. Not often found in my area. Never had it, but have read good feedback on it.

Current lineup:
- Wild Turkey Rare Breed
- Wild Turkey Longbranch
- Eagle Rare
- Buffalo Trace x 3
- 1792 Small Batch
- Early Times BiB
- Elijah Craig Barrel Proof
- Rowan's Creek
- Kentucky Tavern & Benchmark 8 (mixers)

I wasn't a huge fan of Blade and Bow.

I got my replacement flask the other day since the first one had a leaky cap.

A work buddy of mine just had me over to christen his cigar lounge he built in his "home office". Gottdam it is a fine piece of work. The venting is pretty good and he's got a lot of great whiskey/bourbon/scotch in the bar on basically an entire wall. He had a bottle of Pappy on hand for the occasion. Definitely felt like a baller talking a little shop/stock markets while blowing some smoke with some pappy at about 3pm lmao.

I got a bottle of Elijah Craig rye and it is seriously the smoothest drink I think I've ever had. It blows my mind that the bottle was $35 and yet one of my favorites thus far. Also not sure why, but it seems like I really prefer the rye mashes better than others. I've bought a couple of different whiskey brands like Michters and always preferred the rye

Well today is a great day.I've been on the hunt for this Larceny Barrel Proof for at least 2 years and finally FINALLY found it today.

I even showed some restraint and didnt buy the last bottle when I really wanted to, hoping another lucky hunter will find it and not a collector.

Cant wait to dig into this tonight.

I bought all of those at the BT distillery because Ohio is a fkn clown show trying to find them on the shelves anywhere. Occasionally I'll find BT a couple times a year, I'll find ER maybe once a year, and I've never EVER seen EHT or Blanton's on a shelf.

That one is particularly good. What did you get the bottle of Blanton for if you recall? I found a bottle in the wild a few months ago and it will probably never happen again due to low allocations to my region. I think I got it for $120ish

The Blanton's was like $63 at Buffalo Trace. Secondary prices are crazy...

Trying to expand my bourbon tastes, been reading through the thread a bit. Typically like to drink whiskey neat.

Things I like (not exclusive to bourbon): Makers, Blantons, Basil Hayden, Jameson

Thing's I'm neutral but not enthralled with: Bulleit, Buffalo Trace

Thing's I don't care for: JD, normal Jim Beam, johnny walker, most scotches I've tried, Japanese whiskey

Basedon recommendations ITT picked these up tonight:

obv the WT is rye, curious to see how that compares to most bourbon and irish whiskey

figured I'd start with some of the cheaper stuff and if I'm not a huge fan I can use it for cocktails
Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakin' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.

Initial ranking from fav to least:

1. OGD (smoothest for me)
2. Larceny
3. WT - has too much of a gasoline/fuel taste to it. Dunno if that makes sense at all

The larceny grew on me with the second glass

Not super impressed with any of them, but at that price point that’s unsurprising

Yeah that OGD is pretty good now that I think of it. I might have even posted in here about it, not sure. Real affordable too here in Central Ohio. I always see it for like $21 and it's always available.

Can't see the pick but Wild Turkey 101 Rye and regular 101 are both staples. If you like the kicken chicken aka Wild Turkey, expand to the Rare Breed regular and rye. Both are delicious. Check out Elijah Craig as well.
