Worst part about working the overnight graveyard shift...

Is definitely the judgmental stares you get when you buy a 12 pack of booze at 7 am every morning.

Lol, that's actually easier than going to 7-11 for a pack of Cigs at 7AM after you've been up all night partying. Especially when you know the clerk.

This. Aren’t there studies showing anyone working this shift for any length of time can expect a 10 year decrease in life expectancy?

Midnight shift

By the end of the week I'm exhausted.. Get a "3 day weekend" but really spend that first day after the mid catching up on sleep and having my body recuperate. I hate quick turns

3 day weekends do have you using the 1st day as recovery, followed by the 2nd day as a turn up day, then 3rd, recover for the week

I believe it. Days and weeks also of course. Feels like 2 days go by when it's really one.

I used to work a night shift for collectively 5 years. It wasn't really so bad, but I did get a ton of people giving me **** for sleeping past 10 AM like it was their fcking problem.

I do know I got more hours of sleep each night/morning than I do now being on a day shift.

Rotating shifts have to be the worst. I've been on midnights for about 5 years now. As long as I go to bed right after work, I feel great. Now if some co workers hit the bar and we get all ripped up then yeah I feel like sh*t for a few days.

With that being said, I always was a night owl. Afternoons is probably the healthiest shift to work but hard socially and with family. If you have to wake up with an alarm clock, it can't be healthy for you.

I don’t think I could do straight nights

I go 7 12’s 6a-6p
7 days off
7 12’s 6p-6a

I like the rotation because I can get more stuff done at home working nights.

Do you HAVE to work those shifts? Or are you just doing it because you have less seniority? Seems to be a lot of options in that field.

I would love to be able to work the graveyard shift:

* no traffic
* don't have to deal with many people
* Can sex women that work the graveyard sh/t
* Never worry about sunburn

The pros outweigh the cons.
Everything I post is satire.

Even going to liquor stores at 8am and chit like that doesn't hold a candle the embarassment of being a true seasoned alcoholic. The true alchy ends up with a rotation of about 7 - 15 liquor stores in the area just so he's viewed as slightly less of an alchy. None the less, it's really just trading one bad look for another bad look, as you end up being viewed as a a regular alchy at numerous liquor stores instead of just one.

So it’s better to just go to one.
