NAC Supplementation

Has anyone here ever employed it as part of a supplementation regimen?

What positive effects have you experienced compared to before you took it?

I don't take it for easily noticeable effects, besides better liver function tested in blood tests, which in turn has many benefits systemically, but mostly it is just to preserve cellular health and function to live longer. They are also supposed to be good for providing energy, and I could possibly notice that.

Yea I obviously first heard about it for taking when running a serious "supplement" regimen, but have been investigating it's longevity/metabolic health effects.

When I was a fifth of whiskey a day and an eight ball of Pepsi a day functioning train wreck I took NAC, went to the doc when I swore it all off and my liver checked out to be just fine, I was shocked.

Glad it has helped the alkies in here srs but I don't drink nor am I on any program that would require me to keep my liver enzymes in check.

Had a friend talk to me about NAC and glutathione and how important they are but then NAC ended up getting banned but I think it is now being sold again. Need to pick up some, neither are on labdoor... what are some good brands for both?

interdasting never heard of glutathione. I've only been using NAC and I do tend to feel better all-around. More energy throughout the day; I don't get as much sleep as I should, I used to be dead tired in the mornings, but lately that sleepiness is mild and doesn't last long at all. Not sure if it's related at all, but just something I noticed.

NAC is a great supplement with a ton of data behind it. Hence why the government tried to scare people and saying they were going to ban it due it showing promising data with Covid.

I was recently sick and had a lingering cough that wouldn't go away for almost a month. I started taking NAC and it was gone in less than 24 hours. (Ded fkn Srs)

People said it helped with covid, so the FDA banned it because they wanted you to get the vaccine. People then complained that it helps so many other health issues that they unbanned it.

I don't know if it does anything or not, but I bought a bunch from Swanson when a miscer said it was getting banned a few years ago.

Former, ostracized, miscer Will Brink has some good video out about NAC.

I’ve taken it when boozing but would not take it routinely because of the negative effect of antioxidants/anti-inflammatories on hypertrophy

I been taking it for a year or so, to prevent covid/sickness. Seems to be doing it's job, haven't gotten sick. Also noticed less stuffiness/mucus in nostrils.
It is a precursor to glutathione (most powerful antioxidant produced in the body). Beneficial to take together with glycine before bed.

Best thing you can take for mental health. Take on an empty stomach. It’s noticeable. A clarity comes. Takes at least 1 gram to notice cognitive effects.

there was actually a study done on that and they found the effects to be completely unnoticeable, not just specifically with NAC but with berberine and metformin but have also read from evidence based coaches/nutritionists that the antioxidant/antiinflammatory effect is too minimal to actually ever interfere with hypertrophy. I think Alan Aragon was one who touched on it that the benefits of the supplements FAR outweigh the extremely negligible effect they have on interfering with hypertrophy due to anti inflammatory effects and their actual muscle building effects/systemic effects outweigh the negatives even for hypertrophy(like berberine's effect on insulin sensitivity and shuttling glucose into the muscles faster post workout)

Th effects of antioxidants on hypertrophy is overblown. Just don’t take them around intense training.

I’ve never noticed anything from mushroom extracts. Glad it works for you though.

I’ve been taking inositol, Nac, niacin and magnesium before bed. It’s the absolute best stack I’ve ever experienced for well being… Nac being the most important.

Hope everyone’s feeling good!
