Also the Braves were 9th in team payroll with $181 mil last year. Posting their $192 projection this year isn't saying much because it likely puts them in the same spot once everything has finished. There aren't many openings on this roster so right now our total spent looks higher than everyone else but that will change as others start bringing guys onboard.
I'm not asking the Braves to sign 4-5 more guys. I'm asking them to go sign 1 or 2 more guys for another $40 mil (Swanson for $25 and Haniger for $15 would work just fine and is reasonable to land both). F*ck I'd even take Nimmo for $25 and Segura for $15, slide Ozzie over to SS if they want to be creative.
Either way this team isn't done, but they will be done because they're cheap ph aggots. Asking for a $230 mil payroll isn't asking too much imo when it's to fill in the last 1 or 2 pieces you need to have a really complete team.

Imagine winning the world series last year, extending tons of talent for cheap, having a top 10 payroll, and still whining. If you're a braves fan and you're not happy with how they're running things , that's on you, their GM is great.

They did NOTHING here either.... and once again were very fortunate Spencer Strider came up looking like Cy Young. Strider wasn't pegged to do this. Braves management again got lucky as f*ck... especially when it was coupled with Anderson turning to sh*t.
Obviously Harris and Strider have secured their spots for next year but expecting similar performances would be asking a lot.
You still have a huge hole in the outfield even with Harris earning one for good though and they'll still do nothing for it. You now also have a new problem with Swanson leaving and the Braves will do nothing about it. The Braves also lost Jansen FYI, but I'm not even asking them to go get a new closer. So there's places where it is ok for them to let go of something, I'm not asking for an All Star team here.

A couple of months ago, Braves Chairman Terry McGuirk told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that his goal was for the organization to eventually have a top-five payroll – but did not specify when.

If these comments are to be taken seriously, how am I whining to ask for Swanson and Haniger? They're not top 5 so want to explain how I'm whining or you just gonna keep ignoring it because they've done well to lock people up cheap (which is not evidence to support that they'll go after free agents to fill holes)

Seriously can anyone in here point out the last time the Braves brought someone in who made them better for 3-4 years (so no Eddie Rosario doesn't count) that didn't come from their farm system or contract friendly trade (so no Dansby Swanson doesn't count)?
I got Dan Uggla back in 2010, which was a trade but not one that was necessarily contract friendly. You look at every other deal made where they brought someone good in and it was either abbreviated to 2 years or less (e.g. Justin Upton) or contract friendly at the time (e.g. Ender Inciarte and Dansby Swanson) or a downgrade to current position/contract being vacated (e.g. Olson)
It's been over 10 years since the Braves actually went out and spent (or traded for) significant money on someone who contributed to their team positively for 3+ years. And I use Dan Uggla very loosely when I say good for 3 years (because he was really only good for the first 2 but he was here longer than those 2 years so I'll count it).... if I really wanted I could reach all the way back to say Tim Hudson was the last time it happened in 2005.

It's taken a perfect storm for the Braves to have a good team. Literally every prospect that has come up recently has been awesome. If that's the model the Braves want to lean on it's likely these next 2 years are the only time we'll ever see them competitive again. Usually some prospects will hit and others will flop and you need to spend on proven talent to complement the cheap prospects that are working out well. Of course the blue print is to lock up the cheap prospects to enable you to blend with the proven talent. That's not the Braves model at all though. The Braves model is yolo on prospects and hope they all work out and if they don't too bad.
Miraculously they all have worked, but now we're seeing them leave. Swanson walking and the Braves waving goodbye. They still haven't extended Fried yet, my guess is he'll be gone in two years because it's too late to get him on something team friendly. They'd have to pay fair price now which they won't do.
So in two years this will be our team:
RF - Acuna
CF - Harris
1B - Olson
3B - Riley
C - Contreras
2B - Albies
SS - Grissom
DH - Probably Rosario or equivalent
LF - Probably Duvall or equivalent.... maybe Sam Hilliard lol
SP1 - Strider
SP2 - Wright

SP5 - Tryouts for whoever is in the pipeline in 2025
I don't know where you guys seem to think the Braves have 10 years with this group if they're not willing to sign some decent free agents. This isn't a playoff team. It's like half of a team because they downgraded from Freeman last year, then let Swanson walk this year, then will let Fried walk in 2 more years.
Miraculously they all have worked, but now we're seeing them leave. Swanson walking and the Braves waving goodbye. They still haven't extended Fried yet, my guess is he'll be gone in two years because it's too late to get him on something team friendly. They'd have to pay fair price now which they won't do.
So in two years this will be our team:
RF - Acuna
CF - Harris
1B - Olson
3B - Riley
C - Contreras
2B - Albies
SS - Grissom
DH - Probably Rosario or equivalent
LF - Probably Duvall or equivalent.... maybe Sam Hilliard lol
SP1 - Strider
SP2 - Wright
