Turning myself into a misc science experiment

Here at the Misc. we are all expert scientist, lawyers, doctors and master tradies.

I would like to volunteer to turn myself into a misc science experiment. I will eat, train and sleep how ever much the misc says too. I really just need motivation and a plan to help get it off the ground. I feel at age 36 this is a do or die time for my personal fitness. Currently 178 lbs and 6'2". I work as a finish carpenter so very active but currently very low energy and sex drive

I have a nice squat rack. Rogue monster lite w/ gymnastic rings, and dip attachments, incline bench, a couple kettle bells, heavy punching bag adjustable dumbbells and an olymic bar.

I will follow the misc diet advice as well as sleep and work out schedule. I would get a whoop strap or some kind of fitness tracker if the misc deems it necassary. If I need to post pics of before after and transformation I will.

One day:

Ring dips x 3 (main focus)
Ring Push ups x 3

Next day:

Pull ups x 3 (main focus)
Body weight rows x 3

One day rest in the week.

Once you hit 10 max dips & pull ups in one go, add weight to them. Start eating a bit more. Reps will go down, but you are getting stronger.

& Rest maybe a bit more. When you are back at say at 8 reps max-ish, about time to add weight again & re-evaluate programme at that stage maybe? Dunno. I'm just a jerk on the internet.

OP low key trying to score some gear through the misc I see.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

How's your mood day to day? How do you currently eat? How do you sleep? Regular sun exposure?

I made a thread not too long ago, but here's what I recommend

red meat, eggs, egg white, tuna, salmon, whey, chicken

rice, potatoes, oats, berries, banana

whole milk, olive oil, butter, ghee

Skim through your nutrition labels. Avoid things with Canola, Soybean, Sunflower, Safflower, Grapeseed. Buy things with short simple ingredient lists. Avoid added sugar. Some is fine, but it's very easy to find alternatives with 0 - very little added sugar. Online stores like Thrive market have great food options for everything except meat/eggs/milk.

Do you live down south like I do? I can still lay out or work outside for 30 minutes 4-5x a week with no problem. Try to get daily sun is the point here. Try to wake up with the sun to get your body into a proper sleep/wake cycle. You'll eventually fall into this routine naturally. Wakeup around 7A then be tired and ready for bed between 930-1030p.

Sleep in a cold environment.

You can lift however you want, but intense training 4-6x a week would be ideal.

Only one hardboiled and one raw egg a day. Rich pianas 8 hour arm workout twice a day. 3 hours sleep a night. You may only drink red bull and vodka. Report back in a month please, for science

I am taking the advice. First day I got my sleep somewhat more in track. Got 7 hours of sleep, got an electric hot plate to cook food on while at work.

had coffee for breakfast , three fast food tacos for lunch w/ huge Mountain Dew, dinner was 5 for 5 Wendy's plus a baked potato with butter cooked at home. peanut butter crackers plus peanut butter and jelly sandwhich for snack. This is typical **** I eat.

I was able to bust out some sets on the rings. Will only be eating the following foods as of tomorrow

red meat, eggs, egg white, tuna, salmon, whey (I prefer peanut butter to whey in shakes.), chicken

rice, potatoes, oats, berries, banana

whole milk, olive oil, butter, ghee

will be adding some crucifer veggies (Brussel sprouts and brocolli) to help digestion and for the nutrients

Keep in mind im starting this from eating basically nothing but fast food, dr. pepper, pop tarts and crackers. I feel the activity level in my job made up for **** diet but lack of nutrient is catching up with me with presumably low test levels.

Mood day to day is pretty positive. Currently eating fast food daily and nightly French fries, onions, hamburger. Lots of soda and ****y carbs in the form of cheap crackers filled with soybean oils ect.

I spend $2000 a month on fast food. mcdonalds, wendys, Pizza Hut ect.

The most I ever weighed was 185lb and I think I respond well to intense training.

From the first post I got an undereating vibe already but holy chit, fix your diet man. Watch meal prep vids on YouTube and copy what looks good and have half a week's worth of food on hand at all times, prolly 3300 cals a day if you're burning cals at work.

Makes me want to throw up reading about your fast food srs. Disgusting if true. So lots of room for improvement there

OP you don't need some arbitrary miscer's random experiment idea. I bet you'll find yourself uninterested in most of the recommendations tbh.

You want a reason to be motivated to get disciplined? Do a New Year's Resolution for 2023, bonus points if you start early now in December 2022 (should also help with making the work behind the resolution a routine/habit, build up to it a bit, etc.).

Every Dec/Jan I get a little motivated to do this, and I never regret it. 2020 I started doing cardio every day, when COVID lockdowns happened we could still go outside within a curfew so I still ran on the daily. 2021 I took the cardio idea from 2020, and then started doing a certain number of pushups and situps on the daily. 2022 I got more anal about going to the gym 7 days a week, and ditched my rest day.

I think what I'll do for 2023 is I'm gonna try to do all of the above consistently tbh (exception is if I'm sick), and then also track macros on the daily while only allowing 1 cheat day a week (exception is vacations/big-events).

Its 100% true. My girl has an eating disorder which means she can't stand the smell of most normal food people eat. It has to be some soybean oil/bullCHit sauced up noodle dish for her to even consider eating it or letting me cook it in the house. I was buying us steaks to eat but the only steak she will eat cost $31.00 a lb its fillet minion so I'm basically left eating pizza or fast food. Im to the point were I physically can't continue to eat so bad. I need real, simple food cooked at home but I can't with out her throwing a fit about not making food for every one to eat not just myself.
