I dont understand extreme alcoholism

I'm talking about ~150lb people putting back a bottle or more of vodka or something every day, also drinking from the minute they wake up till they pass out

Why can't these people do it like regular functional alcoholics who don't start until after work, then stop when they get drowsy or need to go to bed

Once you get to a certain point, if you're not drinking you're in pain from withdrawal, which is why they drink in the morning.

What I don't understand is when does that tipping point come in where you suddenly have to drink just to feel okay.

You'd be surprised at how crazy well some people can hide their alcoholism if you aren't in a position to literally witness them drinking the chit. I was a functional alchy for almost 15 fkn years before I finally said no more. It just consumes and wrecks you in every way

The thing alchies who drink early on to "cure hangovers" and satisfy their withdrawls don't tell you is that it's halfassssed "cure" at best. In reality, they are really suffering from all of their drinking, and even in physical pain. They don't openly express it and live life under a guise of being "hard" and "tough", but it's all pure alchy cope.

tbf though I hate weed with every fiber of my being, but at least it doesn't wreck you physically and drain you mentally the next day if you over indulge in it the night before

There comes a point when physical dependency happens and you absolutely will not be able to function unless you drink. You will be in physical pain with extreme mental anguish.
Timeline of Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms

The symptoms of alcohol withdrawal can range from mild to serious. What yours are depends on how much you drank and for how long.

6 hours after you stop drinking: Mild symptoms can start as early as 6 hours after you put down your glass. They can include:

Anxiety
Shaky hands
Headache
Nausea
Vomiting
Insomnia
Sweating

12-48 hours after your last drink: More serious problems, including hallucinations, can start in this timeframe and may include hallucinations (about 12-24 hours after you stop drinking) and seizures within the first 2 days after you stop. You can see, feel, or hear things that aren't there.  Learn more about the timeline of alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

48-72 hours after you stop drinking: Delirium tremens, or DTs as you’re likely to hear them called, usually start in this timeframe. These are severe symptoms that include vivid hallucinations and delusions. Only about 5% of people with alcohol withdrawal have them. Those that do may also have:

Confusion
Racing heart
High blood pressure
Fever
Heavy sweating
Its the same as any other drug addiction except you can actually die from alcohol withdrawals via seizures.

Except alcohol is 100x worse than thc both in terms of the negative health effects and how stupid it makes people act.

Alcohol is about 1,000 x more physically addictive than thc lol
