I can save you time by letting you know that the LPR and Wagner are not in a BTG formation. There's a single Russian BTG in the area not attacking about 20-30km east firing artillery. Wagner has a btg parked north of the Russian army providing artillery

Further, Ukraine has two artillery brigades, 5 mechanized brigades, 9 BTGs, foreign legion bn, an SF bn, and a few other territorial defense units with many more responding.

So it's closer to 2 Russian BTGs versus 12 Ukrainian BTGs.

It really won't work that way. Flies are caught with honey, not bombs. The people of Ukraine will not so easily forgive or forget this. There will be a nationalist insurgency, and the invasion has simply enboldened the extreme right in Ukraine and given them ammunition to sell their cause. This war is a disaster for everyone. Russia will not recover from these wounds so quickly for as Putin says, Ukraine and Russia are actually one people. Every dead Ukrainian is truly a dead Russian and vice versa. And someday, when the fighting ends (in the form of animosity and strife), they will realize this. But that day won't come for decades. It may even take a century.

Putin must learn that you cannot force someone to love you. If you love someone, you must let them go. Russia cannot force Ukraine to love it again. There is no way this ends in total victory for Russia. It will still be a brutal and hollow one. The Ukrainians will continue to fight and mount an insurgency. They will not comply with or embrace Russia. Putin must let Western Ukraine go for peace, and Ukraine must let the East leave. It is the only path out, and the battlefield lines show this. Russia will have to endure a hostile state on its border now.

It's the same strategy as our war on terror. It will just lead to more terrorists. Every dead Ukrainian leaves behind family and friends to take up their weapons and carry on the fight. This is the mistake of authoritarianism. It's the fatal flaw of force. Violence begets more violence. It takes a collective crisis of faith, like that within Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan, where people knew they were out of line, for collective reconciliation. But the many innocent Ukrainians suffering in this will only know a hostile invader came, much like the Afghans who fought us. And because their cause will be righteous, they will not abandon their fight. That's the problem with Putin's approach here. It's the mistake of trying to solve these problems with force.

War is politics by other means. But they forgot a word. War is BAD politics by other means. If I could tell Putin anything, I'd beg him not to make the same mistakes we did. He must have concrete objectives and a specific plan to end the war. Attempts to engineer a nation and control the collective will have always failed and will always fail. And I'd also just remind him that, as he himself said, these are ultimately his people. There is no doubt in my mind Russia will again be victorious over nazism. It's what comes after and how they pick up the pieces that will lay the course for a future relationship of some form for what remains.
