Any brahs ever had carpel tunnel surgery?
Found out today ill need a release on both hands. I have moderate carpel tunnel. A year or so ago, i was Dx'd with C6 stenosis and thats what I thought was causing all this pain but apparently i'm wrong (or at least partially wrong). I want to get this taken care of before it gets worse (moderate at the moment) but chit man, surgery is expensive. Not to mention the time away from work.
Been pretty bummed today because I already knew i will require:
1.) lumbar fusion(s) in the future. I basically dont have any cartilage at L5/S1 and I have another bulging disc at L4/L5 (I have sciatica from my first surgery so i cant really tell if the disc is causing pain or if its just old pain. Stretching helps a lot though).
2.) Cervical intervention for this stenosis (assuming it doesnt stop getting worse. It got TERRIBLE about 6 months ago but the cortisol injections helped IMMENSELY. But you can only have so much corticosteroids in a year's time or else it starts leaching calcium from your bones).
Sucks man...I'm the active one in my family (could be part of the cause of some of this) and take pretty good care of myself. My brothers dont have hardly any issues either. I guess it be like that sometimes.
Well, anyway, i'm not here for a pity party. I Just wanted to see if anyone has had the related surgery. I'm not worried about the surgery itself, just recovery length and if i might lose any strength/sensations etc.

My mom had it done when she was I think 48, but just one hand. She had a lot of pain the first week, but the pain was from the surgery and not the carpel tunnel she suffered from. I remember she was able to function pretty normally with that hand after a month, but the hand would get fatigued pretty fast (she did knitting, had to cut back a lot for a while). It seemed to have gotten back to normal eventually, but the carpel tunnel symptoms happen from time to time still.
I suspect it might be a while before you can weight lift heavy, though.

Sorry to hear brah I wish you a quick recovery. Don't have any advice on the matter as I don't know too much except when my mom would tell me if I stayed all night typing on the computer I would get Carpel Tunnel, but I think she was trolling me(probably knew when I was teen I was staying up all night watching porn lmao).
Best of Luck Brother!

My symptoms were weakness pulling with my right hand, no grip power in my right hand, pain in my shoulder, elbow and especially my wrist. Not because of that, but went to a chiropractor just to try it out. She did this thing where she pushed the back of my head (laying down flat on my stomach) and popped my neck down deep and it kind of hurt to be honest but after that I didn't have it anymore, and I haven't been back to the chiropractor but it never came back. C5 to C6 was pinched they said.
From Google:
C5-C6 (C6 nerve root): Pain, tingling, and/or numbness may be felt in the thumb side of the hand. Weakness may also be experienced in the biceps (muscles in the front of the upper arms) and wrist extensor muscles in the forearms. The C5-C6 disc is one of the most common to herniate.

I'm the only one in my family with debilitating migraines, several forms of arthritis, stenosis, back issues, disc issues and a few other small things. I suppose i should just accept that more is on the way because i WILL have to have a minimum of 3 more surgeries (1 for lumbar fusion, 1 on my neck (the stenosis) and carpal tunnel surgery)Been using my

A few months ago, mine got so bad, i had to make an emergency appt with my pain doctor and begged them to give me injections. Insurance wont usually cover steroid injections unless its been like 30 days or something liek that but i was desperate. I called my insurance several times and begged them.
