Seriously. Throw on some headphones and spending 8 hours out in the fresh air, getting great exercise, not dealing with anyone, and simply returning carts from parking spaces to the front of the store. If it paid well, it would be the greatest job in the world.

I don't think that's actually a job. It's usually the janitor that does it periodically or other workers in the store.

I thought so too. The guy at the walmart by me has it particularly good as he only brings in like 3 carts at a time and the store is always out of them.

I did it during a summer in high school and it was pretty good, especially during the weekdays where the store wasn't that busy.
There were tons of areas around the side of the store where I would just hide and play games on my psp. I would take a cart with me in that off chance that a supervisor came by so it looked like I was grabbing a stray cart lol.
You could take extra long breaks too and no one would notice. Cashier breaks were timed and monitored by a supervisor. But no knew how long I've been on break for or even cared as long as the job was being done.
For sure the GOAT job in the store.

I did it at Costco for years and made around 27/ hr with 5 weeks paid vacation, bonuses twice a year, and a bunch of other perks.
Just got so tired of it, and Costco carts are big and heavy, it's actual labor. 20k+ steps per day while moving heavy carts adds up after a few years.

1 cart is about 50 lbs, push 10-12 around for 8 hours a day and see how it feels. Now add in a ton of heavy clothes for winter,and 100 degree days in the summer. The asphalt gets to be close to 130 degrees and a few thousand metal cars reflecting heat don't help.
Carts is regarded as the most physically demanding job Costco offers.

but in the cities grocery stores are huge with thousands of people going in and out per day with 100 acre parking lots. if everyone returned their carts to the store it would be a clusterfuk of foot traffic
