4 day workweek is getting traction in the US

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/12/09/us-4...to-normal.html

Workers had improved performance, lower burnout, lower turnover.

All of the companies were happy.

Sh*t should become standard, too many advantages.

Yeah if you're a loser with no hobbies.

3 days is perfect. I can do all my errands, appointments, get yucky, and still have leisure time. I can even take small flights to Florida during the winter months and hit the beach.

If anything, I'd say every other week should be Fridays off

I agree because no one does sh*t on Fridays now anyway so we pretty much already unofficially have 4 day work weeks.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Except for those who have already leveraged themselves into a position with prolonged weekends, who will now have to share their peaceful days off in town, or on the road, with the hordes of mannerless plebs

Seems like there are NO downsides to this. People get the same amount of work done.

I always take off early on Fridays, but like others have said...for the part of the day that I am on the clock, I usually don't do shyt (or do VERY little) on Fridays. Hell, oftentimes most of my motivation is gone by Thursday.

Had a coworker that kept pushing for 4 day workweek in nearly every meeting that we had... guess how it worked well for him, he's now unemployed.

Really wish this was viable for ATC, but I can't see the FAA ever signing off on this. Our schedules are probably the worst part of the job. Quick turns, shift work, and the "rattler" schedule. I've heard we have arguably the worst schedule in America just due to our work volume and lack of sleep.

4 days and same pay would literally be a godsend to people... But then that means we'd have to hire and certify more controllers and they've been trying to do that since the early 2010's and still haven't caught up.

Alas it will never happen anytime soon. Government work, and our contract has already been signed and delivered (with raises that dont even keep up with inflation) so won't be holding my breath over it for the next 10-15 years
