100%.

Anytime your back is supported and feet are planted, you get some leg drive and you no longer have to use your abs and posterior chain to support the weight overhead.

That's one reason I like seated barbell shoulder press so much.

Stability and the stress is really placed where it belongs, on the delts (and upper chest to some degree too).

With good form yeah. But 99% of people have their flutes slide out and turn it into an incline press or use too much trap

I put the seat down one notch, so the seat isnt 90 degree, but just one notch down, back against the seat etc. And I pause at the bottom, and turn the dumbells slightly on the way down

I already know people around here have a hard time with this concept because I post videos like that all the time.

But if you're using an incline bench, you pretty much have to do it the way you describe, putting it back one notch (unless you want to hit yourself in the chin/face with the bar on every rep).

If you're using a shorter, fixed, military style bench, you don't have to because you can lean your upper back over the top of it so you can clear your face with the bar.

A video I made about this a while back for a Miscer who was having trouble with the concept lmao. I bought a new bench since then, but same concept.

110lb dumbbells in each hand? I'd be impressed if they could get them into position to start the press without assistance.
