It's amazing how good you feel when you quit alcohol

I was drinking almost everyday and sometimes whiskey on weekends. I smoked cigars and weed few times a week.

Quit for almost 2 weeks and I feel amazing.

Sleep, mood, anxiety are all better.

The hardest part is doing things you used to do without the alcohol like watching football or camping.

Well done, I've ever been much of a drinker myself but have friend that have let it get out of hand, luckily there're older, wiser and happier now!

The main things I've noticed in the last six months of NoAlc are improved performance and results in fitness and cognitive endeavors. I think that's partially due to abstaining from alcohol and partly because, as you said in the OP, you have to do something other than drink.

I do miss the carefree feeling of being drunk sometimes though tbh. EDIT: in after clive

The feeling of being clearheaded and no hangover/anxiety the next day heavily outweighs the feeling of being drunk.

I’m at 5 weeks no alcohol no nicotine. Feel a lot better other than currently being on zero carbs. Dropped 13lbs so far, just a few more left to be back to my avi pic. Would have been impossible if I continued drinking.

That's amazing man. I'm down 5-8 lbs I think. Have been eating alot and drinking lots of diet sodas since I quit drinking. I plan on doing 16-8 fasting after the holidays.

The habbit of consistent use or over indulgence is surely bad for phsycial and mental health. If you can just have a drink or two on occassion I really don't see it as negative, doesn't seem to have a negative effect on me anyway.

Yeah, brain function has been higher, no cloudy brain, performance and enthusiasm far better, I'm just more present in each moment, no stomach issues, no elevated heart rates, no anxiety. It's a night and day upgrade.

I quit about a year ago.

I havent experienced this. What i had done was attach drinking to working and getting stuff done so as soon as I quit drinking, I sort of quit doing stuff too.

When I do stuff, say clean the garage or the like, It is easier sober but nowhere near as fun so I have to push myself to do it. before I would plan it out and look forward to it because it was sort of a party.

Getting my head around that has been the hardest part and I still have yet to do stuff that I loved doing before.

Not to chit on your parade, but 2 weeks no booze ain't chit. I've gone over 8 months without the crap, and alcoholcels still call me an alcoholic as an insult.... meanwhile, they're the ones still getting drunk on the weekends deep into their 30's and are on a path to becoming those weirdos who hit the bars in their 50's and 60's.

I don't say any of that to discourage you. That's great that you're quitting. Just saying, get a few months under your belt before you expect anyone to possibly care. Also don't be surprised when others try to cut you down regardless of what you do.

I probably drink 2 times a week, but when I do I'm usually having 10+ drinks. Really trying to stop all together but that is pretty much the end of social life. Hate how to two are so intertwined for me. Being sober for a while definitely feels amazing, think I'm gonna start today.

January will be here soon. I always take January off from booze. It gets old after all the holiday parties, christmas, football and new years.

The bad part is, I likely have a few more in December because I know a dry spell is coming LOL, Ya fook it, I'll take one more

I drink but don't drink enough to get a hangover. That's when it's a problem. Studies have shown drinking has longevity to it, with moderation.

I find waking up on a day off without a hangover to be an awesome feeling. I drank last weekend, and 6 months prior .
I have no intentions of quitting ,but I’ve certainly slowed down to a few times a year
