I'm afraid I won't pass the police recruit polygraph test

Let's get something straight,
I've never killed/raped/seriously injured anybody

But have done drugs once or twice out of curiosity never been addicted to nothing, I've stolen hella ****, got a dui, driving on uspended license, gotten in street fights, once even shot at someone (didnt hit them) coming to hurt me with an unlicensed gun,
So if I'm asked if I've committed serious crime I will say no but it will come up as a lie

If they see I'm lying will they try to investigate me ?
Could this end in an arrest ?

What do ?

Do you need to 'pass' or just not clearly fail?

A common trick is to do something physically painful the whole time so you spike stress response to cover any underlying stress in answers.

Never got the polygraph tests, they work on stress and put you in an inherently high stress situation. Here's a thought, be honest; most DQ's I've seen were for less than truthful, not for having made a mistake and worked through it.

been through many LE & non-LE poly's myself, it's all about how you perceive it. if you get all nervous and its a big deal to you, then you'll pop on it. if you have no / feel no change / perceive it as a non-issue, then you have a much higher likelihood of doing well.

that said, polygraphs are, at best, quack science.
