I grew up with an upper middle class lifestyle - I can’t really relate to most of the stuff in mainstream rap
not to say that the lyrics aren’t entertaining and the beats aren’t catchy etc
It’s definitely a cool “art form” but I reject it for myself
also I notice that a lot of people I consider moronic listen almost exclusively to rap — so that was another eye opener for me (ded fkn Srs)

I ask friends of mine if they will have memories associated with some rap song twenty years from now and I doubt it. The raps aren't about anything.
So, what music are you listening to?

Once you reach a certain age, you start realizing how retarded the vast majority of it is. I honestly can't even really defend the old school stuff I used to listen to very well anymore. There's waaaaay too much quality music that exists for me to want to waste much of my time listening to people talk to a fkn "beat" that involves heavy plagiarism.

I still listen to a lot of older rap. I can’t get into the new stuff at all. It all sounds the same (strong boomer I guess), and everyone is back to getting killed over dumb chit like “clout” and “opps”. Plus every modern rapper looks fruity as hell.
J.Cole and Kendrick Lamar still put out good stuff, but they’ve been rapping since early/mid 2000s so they’re not really new anymore. Every once in a while I’ll throw some Lil Wayne from his Carter and mixtape days. Still enjoy the dirty south stuff from Chamillionaire and SwishaHouse before him, and Paul Wall tried to go mainstream but failed.
Classic rap like Dre, Snoop, Tupac, Biggie, Pharcyde, Nas, etc are all good. Kanye’s first few albums are great too.
But I don’t listen to rap exclusively. It’s mixed around with a bunch of other stuff. Mainly been listening to synth music lately.

Everyone does bro. About 80% of Zoomers and Millenials are into it. Go to any club and you'll see an abundance of white girls twerking and white boys trying to sneak in the n word during their favorite song.
I still do but not as into it as I used to be. Nowadays I go back and listen to old Drake, Jay Z, Kanye etc. Open to listening to new artists as well. Every once in a while they have a catchy song. Listen to every genre including country but rap is my main one.

Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; and if it is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

if youre more into boom bap try out clear sour forces and pro era. both groups have good albums with intelligent lyrics and wordplay.
They were both breaking through/most popular early to mid teens. Still releasing stuff too. Well CSF just relaeased their last album last year (not enough money in the underground). pro era kinda sold out/has had internel conflict since original release and theyre mostly only known for joey badass and capital steeze (rip). most of the albums Progressive Era realeased around that time are good listens. Personally I like Clear Soul Forces more and every album they released is a decent listen from start to finish. I havent even looked into all their side projects as solo artists. Most of there stuff is on bandcamp and youtube.
also Wu Tang Clan members are still putting out decent stuff

I don't anymore. I think it all sounds the same.
honestly I feel the same about all genres. I'm numb to it all and I feel all music with a specific genre all sounds the same.
Every once in a while I will find someone who stands out. Open to all genres. Last new artist I've binge listened to is Fred Again.
