You sound poor.

Worse, like someone who has never left his parents' basement to go to Naples, or NYC.

I have been to both, and there are places in NYC that blow the best that Naples has out of the water.

There are a lot of garbage places, but they cater to plebs like you.

Let this sink in, and hope this helps.

Full of homeless people and beggars and mentally ill.

Tbh really wish I hadn't come here, it's much nicer at home.
That's America for yah.

When I visited London I loved it and all the people were so nice to me.

NYC is a place where you need to be ready for combat, depending on where you are at. However, it's a great city for eating, art, bars, and people watching.

You should focus on those things and have fun.

NYC has fantastic food options.

I have had some of the best food ever there from the expensive to the mundane on the street.

It's not the city that makes food but people. So, you have many ethnic groups there and first class cooks, that's why.

To be clear, I dont like New York that much, but it’s Fairly evident you just went to the shytty parts of Manhattan and didn’t go to any of the good ones/interesting parts of Brooklyn.

Also, covid lockdowns ran train on the city, and lots of infrastructure is nearing replacement time.

but from what you describe it seems you’re too poor/dumb to have found the actually nice parts of the city. It’s dirty in parts, sure, but no more dirty than other cities it’s size.

Lived in South America for Years, and have spent lots of time in Europe, I have seen the cities you talk about and if they’re nicer, they’re 1/4 the size, and if they’re close to the same size, they’re not nicer.

Comparing Paris to nyc is comical. 2m vs 8.5m. Jfl

the only reason why NYC retains its position is because of movies and the prestige hangover

Tokyo is much safer, Singapore much better (0 chance of freezing over)

To be fair, New Yorkers tend to be stuck up af about their food in general.

Also, you're simply wrong in saying "you can open a pizzeria in Iowa and it'll do well no matter what". New Yorkers tend to be so caught up in their own bubble of a city lol

I love to cook.

I spent a LOT of time trying to figure out how to make pizza dough.

What makes it is the right combination of flour and water, also the right kind of yeast, and right kind of oven.

Also, actually using premium ingredients affects the flavor.

For instance, bakers get fresh yeast, people like me have to buy powdered in the store. So, the yeasty flavor is better for bakers than what I have.

My over goes to 500 but a pizza oven is like 1200. That affects the flavor.

The same thing goes for steaks. I pro steakhouse has different ovens that average people and it affects the flavor.

Shake Shack:

That's a burger place that started in NYC.

Their burgers taste really good.

I learned the secret is that Shake Shack uses different cuts of premium meat to make their ground meat. So, it's full of flavor.

The ground meat we get at the store is flavorless scraps ground up into cheap ground beef. So, you cannot buy the type of meat Shake Shack uses.

Most of us in the US are exposed to cheap capitalist garbage food. However, NYC is where very rich people live so when they go out for pizza or a burger, it's the best type that we are not familiar with.

Most of this should go without saying, but the average person who hasn't had any real experience in life just won't 'get it.'

My favorite pizza place in NYC does a 72 hour fermented dough - and uses a sourdough starter that his grandma gave him from Sicily to start his place. VCs go to this guy regularly to try to set up something in Naples too, because his pizza blows much of their stuff (which has turned into mass volume etc.) out of the water.

But of course, most people won't know that. Or that Masa, despite being very expensive, is the best sushi one can get on this entire planet outside of Japan. It's as simple as that - I go there fairly regularly, and speak with Chef Masa - he is very emotional, it shows in the delight that is his food.

Depends on where you go, where you stay, and your mindset. If you are already pissed about some airport stuff and jn a bad mood, then yeah you aren’t going to be happy the rest of the time. Used to go all the time for work and stay for a week or two at a time. Only place I dislike is Times Square, which happened to be right by our office. Really hard to beat the food there though, San Francisco is probably the runner up food wise.

All large american cities are chitholes. Now compare smelly NY to actual 1st world cities like Seoul, Tokyo or Copenhagen LOL. Too bad the country spends all its money on the military and welfare instead of proper infrastructure and design

I always have a blast whenever I visit NYC but thats just cause I was born and raised ( Queens/Bronx) and know where to go and where to avoid. Also having a huge family living all around and being familiar with everything just changes the game. It's awesome just walking around and walking into whatever club/bar/restaurant looks interesting.

I also never stay in Manhattan when I visit, always Brooklyn or Queens and I travel to Manhattan in my vehicle whenever I want to go hang out there. When I go this NYE weekend I'll probably do my partying in Queens LOL at going into the city on NYE.
