It has all of that, but that doesn't make it worth it. You need to be rich af to enjoy that, and there are still severe drawbacks to life in the city.

Incels tend to be mentally sick and think the world should revolve around them.

Cities like NYC are a brutal reality check for them.

Bit of a dishonest take as there are many other far more affordable cities with most of the things you mentioned, albeit only marginally worse. And those cities come with other benefits. For example, Portland has slightly worse stuff, but has much better air and water. We also have tons of beautiful forests.

My favorite pizza place in NYC does a 72 hour fermented dough - and uses a sourdough starter that his grandma gave him from Sicily to start his place. VCs go to this guy regularly to try to set up something in Naples too, because his pizza blows much of their stuff (which has turned into mass volume etc.) out of the water.

But of course, most people won't know that. Or that Masa, despite being very expensive, is the best sushi one can get on this entire planet outside of Japan. It's as simple as that - I go there fairly regularly, and speak with Chef Masa - he is very emotional, it shows in the delight that is his food.
THAT'S what I'm talking about!

The dough starter from Italy is what I was trying to communicate.

When I lived in Colorado all German American kids were cooking things like Thai food and pizza was made with dough out of a box. All food sucked.

The East coast is an awesome place to live because we have so many ethnic groups and there's many delicious food choices. People in the midwest and west have nothing but imitation garbage to eat, unless it's Mexican out west. That's my experience.

The flyover states are where it's at. Best kept secret ever.

The only reason people seem to stick in major cities is for the nightlife, easy sex and drugs. There's not much else worth staying for.

Is homeless, needles, mental health issues, high cost of living really worth all that?

I sat next to a new to the family, 23 year old bf of a neice at Christmas dinner, and they both had just moved to Brooklyn in September.
I grilled him on safety, security, his train ride 25 min away, all things New York, and he said as a male he feels safe. Media hype vs reality of daily living.
He has no issues and said there were some crazies but to avoid contact with them and stay aware.
He doesn't walk around scared and is a regular sized dude.
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

In America you can get a large pepperoni pizza for $5.00. We call this a "Hot Carl" here in CaliWali (California for you outsiders). The best thing too is that you don't even have to wait you just walk in and its always hot and ready to go at the counter. What food traditions do you have in your region?

Exactly.

But I host people here fairly often, and a few Miscers have visited too. If someone wants Mexican I take them for cocktails and tacos to Oxomoco. Szechuan? Hupo. Vietnamese? Di An Di.

Guests from Texas who hated the city? I took them to Aska. Even their "juice flight" blew them away.

This can be a city to explore your highest ambitions and hedonist spirit. I have seen people lose themselves, especially younger brahs who lose themselves in a Pepsi fuelled spiral.

NYC isn't a monolith- it can be very nice to live in a bubble of it if you make bank. And even then, once you have kids some of it loses its appeal too.

Very true. Like that famous bridge in LA that's in so many movies, but if you go over there it's a complete dump.

Same with NYC, always seems vibrant and exciting, but Hollywood doesn't show the graffiti, homeless, mental illness, smells horribly, the Airport is a dump, great first impression. Honestly worst major international city I've been to.

ITT retards who say you just don’t get it.

We get it.

Problem is, you don’t get that other places chit on NYC without the downsides. If you don’t equate the time you had with the money you spend there are areas all around the country that show NYC for what it is. A pretentious city full of pretentious people fooling themselves.
This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.

I don’t get it?

When you guys go to nyc do you interact with homeless people and drug addicts?

They are there but I barely notice them and they just sit there minding their own business or yelling none sense

They barely register in my mind

Also when I go out in east village, soho, west village etc I barely see homeless people and it’s literally just hot girls and cool restaurants and bars
