LMAO at this WSJ article talking about how cucked accountants are (pics)

https://www.wsj.com/articles/why-so-...ng-11672236016

You can literally see the pain in this boyo's eyes knowing hes on a path to wagecuck for meager pay in the audit department outnumbered by sub 5/10 female coworkers. He knows he's made a mistake, but doesn't know how to turn it around.

Honestly BRUTAL. Accounting and the big 4 are the biggest cucks in corporate america. high hours, low pay, low prestige, boring work, boring coworkers, tons of stress and educational requirements(cpa test etc).

I'd rather make a gay for pay onlyfans than be an accountant.
Jordan Pixley put his attention to detail and love of numbers into his Clemson University accounting classes. But in internships, he felt bogged down by the repetitive tasks of accounting—such as balancing cash sheets—and the work proved less interesting than the college class he enjoyed most—data analysis.

The 22-year-old accounting major attended a KPMG LLP recruiting event in Orlando, Fla., but ultimately chose not to apply. He graduated last week without a job lined up and is exploring opportunities with the U.S. military. Accounting’s grueling hours—70- and 80-hour weeks are common at the biggest public firms before tax and audit deadlines—were part of the turnoff, he said.

“I was a little scared of it, not going to lie,” Mr. Pixley said. “I don’t know if I want to do all that.”
While some mathematically inclined students are drawn to accounting, the field still suffers from a stigma that it is uncool, with tedious work and daunting hours, said Keith Wolf, managing director at the Houston-based recruiting firm Murray Resources. Companies are sending young professionals into high-school classrooms to try to change that perception, and an industry group has drawn millions of views with a TikTok campaign to show the field in a fresh light.

Accounting is a reliable path to stable, steady work, Mr. Wolf said, but there are easier ways to enter the business world.

“There’s so many options,” he said. “Why pursue a much more difficult path?”

Right... because those only need a 4yr college degree and not advanced degrees and connections not to mention are probably more stressful than accounting

outside medicine, none of those require an advanced degree.

only connections you need are from attending a nice school. doing well in high school is CRUCIAL so you can attend a top school that feeds into IB, PE, tech, strategy consulting etc. you dont need family connections or anything once you get into the school (firms come to campus and recruit).

big 4 audit has equally bad hours and stress as all those options i listed with about 50% of the pay (srs). if you are going to work 75 hours week in audit with stress, why not work in investment banking where your annual bonuses as a 22 year old are over 100k starting (and over 250k after 2 years). thats just the bonus (not base)

yeah. you wanna be a consultant. they make top money for nothing. literally just pulling out some blueprint of what theyve done before and maybe tweak it. not long hours unless you include travel...

this is what Ive heard at least.

plus side LOTS of socializing...if you are great looking MBA consultant you could probably meet new bishes in every hotel bar.

They make you work like a literal slave for 10+ years. Maybe make $80k-$100k in a high COL city, working minumum 80 hours/week.

If you somehow survive that, they dangle the MOGGER jobs in front of you. Tongue the right angus and it could be yours, but you'll be so burned out by then, you'll either stroke out/heart attack, or figure you're better off selling oranges by the roadside than ever put together another due diligence package.

They were talking about (financial statement) audit though

I’ve never lead a financial statement audit but I know enough about it that it’s not what’s described in the article

Much of it is looking at the internal and external controls on fraud and other gaps in assurance that could lead to a misstatement on the annual report

Not “balancing cash statements” or whatever the phuck this article claimed

The very first sentence is a dead giveaway that this is a typical WSJ propaganda piece:
More than 300,000 U.S. accountants and auditors have left their jobs in the past two years, a 17% decline, and the dwindling number of college students coming into the field can’t fill the gap.
What a surprise, yet another WSJ article designed to lead readers to the conclusion that we need more immigration to fill roles. After all the WSJ is the paper of choice for businessmen who want to sell our country out but have plausible deniability for doing so

Side note: how can this even be considered the same species as us?

I was a COS lead on an M&A team and did a lot of misstatement work. A lot of it still boils down to, "hey wagie, Mr. Noseberg said he has $25M in materials inventory, show me your 20 page report on how much he really has."

The whole time I'm thinking, I should be tending crops, hunting bison, or banging sloots bareback in a poorly constructed shanty.

You are so wrong about consulting its not even funny brah. It’s actually a very demanding job, especially when you’re traveling M-Th… yeah sounds fun to somebody who has never had to do it, but I promise you it’s one of the worst careers you could choose (for somebody with these types of options available, referring specifically to people graduating from top MBA schools). Investment banking is much better than consulting, no competition. If you’re going to have a stressful job, at least pick the path that makes significantly more money

Consulting is fine as a short term gig before laterally transferring into industry, but I promise it’s not the field you are imagining it to be in your post

One of my buddies is a partner in M&A and he is aging rapidly....

Making a chit ton of money, but the stress is literally killing him. Which is really weird because he could easily retire / do whatever he wants. But nope, he grinds it out.

I work in a related field, so my job has tons of ex big 4 including ex partners. Its a cuck job, especially at below the partner level, working insane hours for TERRIBLE pay. Its like IB but you dont get the pay lmao.

It must be pretty bad since the ex partners at my job definitely would have been taking a paycut.

i passed the cpa tests but need to get my license and do the 1 year experience requirement...

not looking forward to it tbh. I had the year of experience but it 'expired'...the rules around becoming a cpa are such bs for the pay. 150 credit hours, experience requirement, the tests themselves, and continuing education each year.

Might just get licensed and dip the phuk out and become a firefighter or something lol.

It’s because he’s not sane. People that make it that far into finance/consulting are generally fuked psychologically (srs). You will find very few partners living normal, happy, healthy lives. These are highly egotistical people who dont know when to stop in life - usually extending beyond work and into all other aspects of their life as well

The smart people move on before getting to that point, or they just retire early

I dont think all partners need to work that hard at that level though.

I deal with a bunch and it seems a lot of their job is sucking up to clients and relationship management. Seen some when they are sending grovelling emails to clients apologising for their mistakes. Also when I talk technical to some thats a partner in that area, some dont seem to know what I'm talking about.
