No. It has created existential risks and destabilized the region. It's the same logic PNAC used in the middle east. We don't need to expand NATO. It is in US interests to prevent war with Russia, not to confront or destroy Russia. There is tremendous risk to American lives, and there is enormous blowback. You are only thinking of immediate first order effects. You aren't thinking about the ramifications 10,50, or even 100 years out. You aren't seeing the pieces on the board and the dangers of inadvertent escalation. We traded global security for what? Some minor theoretical "gain" in a perceived zero sum situation that actually will lead to catastrophic losses long term for everyone? Everyone, including Ukraine, is now worse off as a result of our meddling. This type of selfish idiocy will ultimately trap us in a death spiral. It can take us very far away from where any of us ever wanted to go.

President JFK and Soviet Premiere Khrushchev had the awareness and foresight to understand they were trapped in that death spiral in 1962. They managed to escape, and it was mainly by sheer luck. Idiots are forcing us back into the same trap, and we likely won't be as lucky this time.

For the US this war is an absolute win on almost all fronts.

But the EU isn't happy about it though, Macron already was complaining to Biden how unfair this is with US lng companies profitting from the war.

It is in the short term. In the long run, what are we creating? Is the goal to destabilize Russia and have regime change? What effects will that have on the global economy and the region? What of Russia's nuclear weapons? What if we succeed in Ukraine, and Russia decides to withdraw? What would it mean for a Russia perpetually encircled by NATO, isolated and threatened? What about the Ukrainian regime? It is pretty far right, and what type of instabilities would an empowered Ukraine present? What of the consequences to China and India? A dethroned Russia directly and substantially threatens their interests. Do we want to risk escalating to confrontation with India? What of the new existential risks introduced by the new cold war? And how can we tackle global crises and ensure global cooperation with this type of division?

Maybe in an extremely juvenile perspective, the kind taken by humanitard Yale grads who failed physics, the world is a zero sum game, and this is immediately beneficial to "US interests". But really, these people are all a bunch of morons who deserve to be executed. They are not competent. They do not understand the ramifications of what they are doing, and they arrogantly seek to reengineer the world. It will blow up in their faces, as it has consistently, for the last 6 decades.

Vladimir Putin exists for a reason. He didn't come to power by accident. He represented a critical transitionary step politically for Russia. And he showed great potential for building a powerful framework of global security. But we rebuffed his efforts at integration. He is the leader Russia needs. And if he is deposed, someone else will rise to the task. But the fundamental cultural conflicts will remain. We cannot engineer them away with warfare. Only peace and cooperation can achieve that. The US is acting irresponsibly and provocatively. There will be consequences.

If you think I'm just a basement dweller, fine. Take it from Dr. Henry Kissinger, the architect of international relations. He has warned about the same issues. Having lived through the cold war and having seen his own mistakes, his perspective is pretty valuable. The same people who are pushing this war praised him and learned everything they know from him before. So why reject his point now? Even if you are an utterly selfish and ruthless prick like him, you can see the consequences here IF you stop the hysteria for a few mins and think about them.

Do you think Henry Kissinger is also a peddler of Kremlin propaganda? At what point does it cease to be propaganda and start being a legitimate point? How many American experts must I present to avoid this type of ad hominem? Can you engage on the substantive points made? No.

I have poked so many holes in the American narrative. It simply doesn't add up. And we've been over them a thousand times.

See anybody can play this game.

Only country on the planet would benefit from damaged pipeline would be US. They wanted EU to buy LNG from USA for 5 times the price. They have succeeded. Thanks to good ol USA the greatest ally of UK, my bills are significantly more expensive than a year ago. So much for an Ally lol.

Are you retarded?

The reason your gas bill is higher is because 1; Global economic restart after corona and 2; Putin invading Ukraine while being warned many times by the west not to do so.

Yes the the USA is profitting now but the reason and fault lies with Putin.

The gas bill would have been relatively unaffected relative to immediately prior to the war were it not for the sanctions we imposed.

Look at the gas price, it was already sky rocketing way before Putler's invasion. Also what else could the west do? Let NATO invade? The sanctions were the best course of action and castrated Russia's main economic exports.

I mean I have a recording of Michael McFaul from last month on the sanctions task force basically admitting the sanctions backfired hard.

He essentially said explicitly the WH has no clue what they are doing and that he himself doesn't really know what else to do.

And these are our guys, not Kremlin shills.

Activity in Russia's services industry shrank for the third month running in December, a survey showed on Friday, as companies faced weak consumer demand at home, severe inflationary pressure and declining customer numbers.

The S&P Global Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for Russian services fell to 45.9 from 48.3 a month earlier, dropping further below the 50 mark that separates expansion from contraction.

Companies noted that the reduction in new business was due to economic uncertainty and a drop in purchasing power at clients amid severe inflationary pressures, S&P Global said in a statement.

But Snizzy said Russia was completely self-sufficient???

Start here. Watch for like 5 min. He basically says we suck and have no clue what we are doing. He talks about how the WH doesn't have the intellectual capital to figure out how best to use the sanctions too. Everyone is basically flying dark.

Just start from here then. And keep watching until he starts talking about the WH. It's a pain to go through and find the exact timestamp on my phone. I've watched this entire discussion. Just listen for like 5 min.

At 43:00 on, he gets asked a question about how people can figure out how to deal with sanctions properly. 44:15 he essentially says everyone is an idiot and they have no clue what to do.

Yea just watch from 44:15 on. He's effectively saying these guys are retarded. He's saying they don't know how to understand the economic consequences of sanctions. They know how to rebuild chit. They don't know how to deal with the trade disruptions. He also goes on to lament internal political infighting over sanctions lmao.

The sanctions are working, lmfao! Russia's economy is on fire and their military industry is castrated so hard they have to ask for weapons and missiles from fcking third world poverty sh*tholes like Iran and North Korea.

The gas and oil that they are still able to sell, they need to sell at massive discounts to their """partners"""

Hell you can see how hard Russia's oil price has been cucked by sanctions here too:

https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/urals-oil

Completely over for Ruzzia. There's a reason Putin is begging for negotiations and Ukraine is not...

Did you not see the original timestamp at like 40 min where he says Putin's buddies and the state just swoop in, and the sanctions are literally not doing what he had hoped, but he doesn't know how to fix that?

Bro how do you spin so hard? Don't you get dizzy?

McFAIL's entire argument is basically "gotta do sumthing lolz" but no. No we don't. Doing nothing is also an option. And had we exercised that option earlier, this war would have never happened.

LMFAO?! Are you fcking serious? So if the US didn't do anything this war would never happened? The US didn't do sh*t but warn Ruzzia for serious consequences. Putler is a megalomanic dictator with melancholy for the USSR.

You can't be this foolish to think a war could've been avoided.

Serious question wincel what do you think about Putin. You actually think he's the good guy in this story?

We should have stayed the hell out of Maidan.

The idea that there is a good guy or a bad guy is a total western distortion. Vladimir Putin is a murderer. He has had to kill to get to where he is. In those parts of the world, being a successful politician means eliminating your opponents. But Putin is also a great leader. Is he corrupt? Sure. But does he have a clear vision for Russia and actually seek global security along with security for Russian people? Absolutely. Does he seek to develop the world and promote the common good? Ultimately, yes. Is he reasonable? Yes. Putin has principles. And we could have prevented this war if we had listened to his concerns.

It's like asking if Stalin was a bad guy. Most would say yes, but if you ask Russians, they will tell you he was a strong and effective leader for Russia.
