How can I find the source of mystery beeps in my home?

I think this started when we had a very long power outage a few weeks ago, ever since every once in a while, sometimes maybe twice in a day, sometimes maybe not for a few days, but I hear a series of 4 beeps that sound faint like they could be from a device in a drawer or box.

Since I hear the beeps so rarely and for a very short period it makes it virtually impossible to find what device is making them.

Is there a website that lists the beeps different devices make? The fact it's 4 short successive beeps should narrow it down to a few specific devices.

Are you sure it's only 4 beeps? It could be morse code and someone is trying to tell you something.

Seriously, tho, if it happend after the power went out then it's probably something directly wired to the house electrical system, but has a battery back up and the battery has drained out.

I'd start with the toaster.

There is only a few things to check. Smoke alarms, Carbon Monoxide alarms, and sump pump battery backups.

Old ex Co worker kept hearing a faint beep and thought that a bird was in his wall (like came in from the attic and got stuck). So he tore an entire wall apart... Then realized it was the just smoke alarm.

I think it was my multimeter, I'm supposed to turn the dial back to off but it also has auto off but apparently something was making it turn back on and it does those beeps I was hearing when it turns back off, I let it turn itself off on my desk in front of me and that seems to be the 4 beeps I was hearing.

I turned its dial to off and will see if I still hear the beeps but I think that was it.
