7 Year gap of no work on resume, trying to get back into IT

What would you do if you had a gap of 7 work no history? make up a company and use friend as reference. or be honest?

Yeah but you would have to do a ton of research on places for 7 years worth of time and it still wouldn’t look good. I would probably use family issues or medical problems because those are pretty hard to pry into

Good one, you could combine travel / teaching English in a country or two (do some research) then a medical issue, and maaaaybe come up with something plausible..

The best thing you can do is say you had to forego work to take care of an ailing relative but also tell them that you also had entrepreneurial endeavors in the interim.
