How does the misc shave their face?

I use a safety razor but lately the experience has been horrible. I remember it being like butter compared to cartridges.

Is there a chance Amazon is full of fake safety blades? Don't remember having this much burn, irritation and lack of comfort after shaving.

When I start looking like a jihadi, I take clippers and just shave the whole thing down. Otherwise, I don't even bother. Not worth the hassle of grooming and keeping a decent beard or consistent facial hair style. Nobody cares anyway.

My guess is you got the green astras lol. Brand does make a difference. Check out shave forums and what they use and prefer.
I don't buy chit off Amazon anymore, they comingle and plus they are bitches about returns now. Buy from shave sites, same or better price most times.

I use a DE razor, and I bought a sampler pack of blades. A box of 5-pack blades from a dozen different brands. Try it if you haven't, op. I like the Treet blades the best

Real men don't shave.

lol jk. Do what you want. I'll shave my neckline with an electric razor and trim my beard with scissors. Haven't used a manual razor since my adolescence.

Safety razor.

I use astra blades as they seem to work best for me. Tried a bunch of different ones but these seem best.

Also I seem to get the best results after a couple shaves with the same blade. The brand new fresh blade for some reason doesnt seem to work as good as the one used a coulpe times. No idea why that is that way but it is.

Also the shave cream makes a huge difference. Of course you have to use a brush, not barbasol or any of that crap. |

I use Arko from turkey. Its what they use in barber shops over there and its cheap. Figure those guys are like gorillas so if it works on them it should easily work on me.

Its possible you just bought cheap/shyt blades. Also, I have found that if I grow out a "full" beard, and then go to shave with the safety razor without trimming first, the shave is somewhat uncomfortable.

Also, remember to change your blades every/every other shave. Especially when using cheap blades. And then just all the other little components of safety razor life. Warm face, warm razor prior and during cutting, lots of soap etc.

Safety razor crew. Started around Halloween and I'm never gonna quit.

I have a thin 8th grader level beard (low T crew). Disposables never cut it close, electric razors literally don't cut it at all. I'd always have some little dirty Mexi-stache chit going, cause I just didn't know how to get any closer. But 2 passes with a safety razor and I am fukkin good. It is joocy how close they shave you.

I am currently in the blade whoring process. Just sampling stuff and trying to figure out what works, so I can buy a 100 pack and really drive my cost down. Russian Gillettes are the leader in the clubhouse right now. They are very nice for about 3 shaves, but then they die on me really fast. Kinda wondering if I should look for something more durable, or just go fukk it, they're $12/100, and burn through them.

If you have irritation from a safety razor, the #1 thing is to use less pressure. Act like you're wiping shaving cream off a balloon and trying not to pop it.

#2 is pairing up your razor with a blade that works for it. You can get irritation with an aggressive razor and sharp blades that just cut the fuk out of you. But you can also get irritated by using a setup that's too mild. If you have to make multiple passes to shave your beard, that skin underneath is just going to get beat up.

I bought a lol aggressive Dollar Tree razor that would cut me with Russian Gillettes, but chilled out when I fed it a pack of Derbys. I actually like that setup... poverty af but it works well. And I have a more mild Gillette razor that felt like a fukking disposable when I fed it Derbys, but wakes up when I use sharper stuff.

If I was you OP, I'd go on one of those DE blade sampler sites and buy 2-5 each of

Derby Extra (lol mild)
Wilkinson (middle of the road)
Feather (lol aggressive)

then see if any of those work for you.

I mix it up. Somedays I use an electric shaver. That leaves me with a good amount of stubble. If i'm going to be busy doing chores around the house I'll use the electric razor.

Most days I use a disposable shaver after showering, which gives a closer shave.
