Putting up the Katya signal, have you seen anything about this financial phuckery?

So apparently a bunch of bank of america customers had their accounts drained yesterday.
There are also pics floating around of a BoA branch where all of the employees had left in the middle of the day and left all the doors and security doors unlocked
There is also word that all of their branches are closed today

Chase bank is also being reported as down in some areas

There were also rumblings that an entire floor was laid off at Goldman Sachs yesterday

Now pair this with the FAA outage that grounded all flights last week and Schwab, Gates and others pulling out of the WEF meeting at Davos and things are seeming a bit fishy.

Ransomware attack maybe?

I'm not sure what's going on with the banks there has been lots of speculation with credit Swiss in the past month or two and worry of bank runs. I'm sitting on 30k cash in banks right now and honestly wanna start withdrawing in (I think the max is 2k withdrawal a day).

I know it sounds crazy but I kind of feel safer with it under a mattress.

Some were saying that it was them paying off a ransomware attacking using the "bail in" technique where basically the bank uses your money for their own needs and doesn't allow you to withdraw or only allows withdraws below certain thresholds.

This is why I keep cash on hand and the rest is in a credit union. Not fail proof but definitely less risky.

Zelle - stay away from that garbage service.

This?

Missing Zelle deposits from your Bank of America account? Here’s what we know
Some account holders reported seeing messages from Bank of America via their mobile app reporting Zelle transactions from the past four days were delayed and would be updated.

FOX 4 reached out to the point person at Bank of America who is in charge of media updates.

She confirmed the missing money issue but said it was resolved Wednesday afternoon. All monies have been already or will be returned to accounts soon.

The Bank of America spokeswoman would not elaborate on which side of the transaction the technical problem was on.

No other outlets that accept Zelle deposits seem to have been affected.
B of A said it was Zelle and Zelle said it was B of A.

A Bank of America Glitch Sent Customers Into a Panic Over Missing Funds
The website downdetector.com reported over 1,000 outage reports for Bank of America by 10:30 a.m. EST Wednesday, coupled with a similar spike in Zelle outage reports.

Over a customer support social media account, Zelle redirected users to Bank of America, saying, “The Zelle App & Network are up & running. We are aware of an issue that is impacting Bank Of America customers when sending & receiving payments. We recommend contacting Bank of America’s customer support team for additional updates.”

So a video about the FDIC leak popped up in my feed and I did a little more poking around.

Cliffs:

- FDIC only has funds to cover a relatively tiny loss

- Bank Of America $1.1 Billion Credit Loss

- Citigroup Misses Profit Estimate, 21% fall in quarterly profit

- Goldman Sachs Lost $1.2 Billion In Just 9 Months In Newest Unit

- Silvergate Bank $1 Billion Loss

I found this when I made the previous thread about the leaked video:

A big bank is in trouble, and no one knows which one or why
WASHINGTON — The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. likely made a large addition to its problem bank list, experts say, as the agency reported a spike in troubled assets managed by firms in the fourth quarter.

The volume of assets held by banks on the FDIC’s problem bank list — a tally of banks that received poor ratings from regulators — jumped by about $120 billion in the fourth quarter, according to the agency’s fourth- quarter banking profile released last week. That’s more than triple the previous figure of assets under problem banks, and it’s the highest that asset number has been since the third quarter of 2013.

This was also from last spring:

Poor management rating likely placed a large bank on FDIC's 'problem bank' list
The banking industry is buzzing about the apparent addition of a single large institution to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.'s list of problem banks, and experts say a management issue is likely at fault.

The increase, disclosed in March, raised eyebrows in the banking and investment community, sparking questions over why an institution, in a benign operating environment, would meet the FDIC's definition of a problem bank. Under the FDIC's definition, a problem bank has "financial, operational or managerial weaknesses that threaten their continued financial viability."

So sounds like the OCC is threatening to break up banks that have poor practices.

But I'm not going to hold my breath. They didn't break up any last time- instead the recapitalized them and let them grow even larger.

I use Zelle, and have had no issues so far. Double checked to make sure, and it's all been there and consistent...

I used to use Zelle to pay my rent. Don't know if this issue was them or not. Does seem there were some prior reports of fraud.
