That seems about as solid an argument as you're making to me

If someone overconsumes cheese pizza they can get fat
No one said to ban anything. Should we discourage excessive eating due to health problems obesity causes by informing people? YES

Would America be better off if fatasses ate less pizza and other trash food? YES.

Strong ignorance. About 25% of the country has medical debt. People can't afford to go to the fuking doctor. People are unhappy and find they can't support their families. Tons of ppl are depressed. Huge numbers of ppl born in broken homes. Like 70% of the country thinks it's on the wrong track. You can drive around any major city and see homeless people and drug addicts wandering the streets. Yeah sure dude life is just great.

This.

Bring back slut shaming.

Bring back fat shaming.

Mock alcoholics every single time they make bad decisions.

Hold people accountable and let our society know that less than desirable choices are less than desirable. This whole “oh everything is beautiful just make yourself feel good” approach is leading us to terrible places.

Fat shaming just makes people fatter. But informing them and educating people about nutrition and health is helpful. We don't need to be pretending being fat is healthy. It's unhealthy. We know this.

Similarly, alcoholism is a disease. Mocking people isn't going to solve anything. But informing people and especially helping prevent youth from even getting hooked in the first place is huge.

Sure dude. Our overlords are so brilliant and have already thought of and done everything they can. Everything is the best it can possibly be. It's totally normal to have a society full of uneducated dipchits who are drunk out of their mind, depressed, isolated, miserable, unhealthy, and pissed off. Our government can't possibly be wrong about anything.

Let me trust the wisdom of the uneducated normal bro. He surely knows what he's doing.
Hardcore liberal talks and complains about stupid people getting elected to congress. Cites a Democrat politician from GA as his shining example of retarded politicians.

OK, I agree. I still say there are a lot of indirect effects from that that aren't so positive

Also, as to that study. Finding it farfetched. But haven't looked at it all. How are they defining "excessive drinking"

I guarantee the only way they can define that is through dui's and other things of that nature. Not like they can follow every person in the u.s. and every drink they have

A way you might be able to is to take restaurant/ bar sales and compare them to the supposed costs they listed there (dui's, domestic violence, etc.)

But two things to that. You'd have to isolate restaurant/ bar sales to drinks (won't be done. Normal pour vs. Excessive pour). Then there are also a ton of little caveats on what you define as banned by society; how many crimes You'd charge an "alcohol fueled" offender

Ok so am I wrong? Alcohol, consumed at the current levels or even increased, would somehow be better for society than my proposal? Somehow the restaurants, hotels, casinos, etc making a bit more money outweighs the kids dying in DUIs, the women raped due to alcohol intoxication, the domestic violence cases, the broken homes due to poor judgment and infidelity, the increases STD spread, the increased obesity from empty cals, the heart disease, the strokes, the cancer deaths, the liver failures, the suicides, the homicides, the kids born with birth defects...

BRB MS13 is a gang that employs many people and supports the economy of some South American countries, therefore we should let them deal their drugs and murder our kids. Excellent. Just excellent.

The worst part of all is that all I am doing is asking for a fuking ad campaign to inform people. But somehow, this is seen as unfair and bad. NOOOOO!! THE PEOPLE SHOULD BE STUPID AND EASILY CONTROLLED SO THEY CAN GET HOOKED ON MY ADDICTIVE SUBSTANCE AND MAKE ME MONEEEEYYY!!!

fuking incredible

Engaging with wincel is always pretty pointless, tbh. All he ever does is get pissy and scream at people. This dude literally just posted a video of a Democrat congressman showing what a massive dumbassss he was in front of congress while speaking to a U.S. military general to prove a point about America electing idiots to office, yet he can't see how immensely ironic that is coming from a raging liberal like himself.

i have tons of republican examples too buddy. Do you want them? I just picked that because it was the single stupidest thing I ever heard.

And "liberal" is meaningless. America is a protofascist imperial state. The democrats are just as protofascist as the republikunts.

What about a campaign against excessive caffeine use? Energy drinks and pre-workouts used to be 150-200 milligrams of caffeine.

Now we're pushing it with 300-400 milligrams, and people are drinking that **** twice a day now.

Alcoholism is not "a disease", it's an addiction. Yes addiction is terrible, but equating it to being laid up and sick from cancer/viruses/bacteria/medical conditions that can't be helped just by stopping drinking/etc. is just disingenous, and is the exact type of chit that makes people downplay the very real dangers and issues that can arise from regular alcohol use.

They had the excuse of not knowing much of anything compared to what we now know about medicine. And Stalin isn't my hero. I just believe he was an effective leader in history and achieved a lot for the USSR.

It is also a disease in that some people have a predisposition to alcoholism genetically.

That's fine, but it's low yield. Excess caffeine intake has only mild health consequences compared to alcohol.

These tactics are so incredibly smooth brained.

Ad hominems, straw mans arguing I'm trying to ban things, trying to derail, demanding proof current alcohol conumption levels are bad for society (lmfao really?)

Ultimately, you're all trying to argue the people shouldn't be informed of the health risks of alcohol. It's laughable.

People always want to equate "disease" with only being things like Cancer or Diabetes, and that calling it a "disease" is a way to just excuse it away...No labeling it a disease (genetic component, brain abnormality, etc.) is a way to admit that it's something that needs to be taken seriously instead of just "more willpower bro", "just drink in moderation bro", etc. It's the same sort of thing with Step 1 in AA - people get so wound up about the "powerless" wording but the point is if you're an addict it's something to take fuking seriously and that you aren't going to casually halfass your way to long term sobriety.

You're right. I replaced alcohol with cheese pizza and it totally is the same! Even the part where if I eat too much cheese pizza and drive I might kill a family! Who knew cheese pizza could cause so much havoc?
