What are dumb ways people blow money? What are things people pay for when they can get them for free/cheap?

people taking their cars in with no idea whats wrong or what must be done
I can understand if you know what needs to be done and dont have the equipment/space/time for it and are making a decision to have the shop do it.

Buying new cars.
Do the math on interest paid over time vs. depreciation.

It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts.

Drinks/Beer
Cigarettes'
When i was younger my dad and mom would buy a 12 pack of coronas and a pack of cigarettes daily. $20 a day x 365 days a year = $7,300. Let just say we were not rich at all. My parents always lived paycheck to paycheck.

-buying entry level luxury cars because you want to appear rich and successful while living with your parents or renting an apartment. I see this chit too much.
Entry level cars are a big waste of money.
-broke college students financing iPhones. You're a broke college student, you deserve a prepaid android phone from the dollar general. Social media shouldn't be a priority in your life. You haven't earned a $1000 plus phone.

My personal ones? Gun safe full of sht I never shoot but just wanted, a lot of accessories too (holsters, sights, belts) that sit around, random sht online that looked neat like random gaming décor, a lot of knives and flashlights I don't need, 1000s of video games I have not and likely never will play....
But fck it, what's the point of life if you don't enjoy the ride.
Alcohol and nicotine are never a waste, they get me through the day.

new cars doesn't apply to Toyotas. as the only owner there are no questions on maintenance and abuse and you can reach maximum life 200-300k miles easy. 10k oil change intervals means you can not trust used cars as much anymore.

I have an android phone that was about 200 while there are galaxy phones that are 800. I cannot figure out the difference.
I have many pairs of jeans, but really only wear one.
I was never a big spender but I have realized that I need almost nothing but get tempted to buy things just to do it and I largely stopped that urge.

Premium economy or business class
Serious you're still sitting in a seat for the duration of the flight, are only going to potentially save ten minutes of your time by getting on/off faster, and whilst you might get marginally bigger seats, this really only makes a significant difference to your comfort if you are overweight.

As to saving money by doing basically 100% of the work on your own vehicle(s), that stuff is for 2 types of people - legit hardcore car hobbyists/enthusiastics who actually *enjoy* tinkering on their cars, and dudes who don't mind pissing away half of their free time tinkering on their cars for upwards of days at a time. Never really understood the latter example. I have a buddy who does that, and also likes to brag about all the money his job supposedly pays him - I'm like breh... if you can make what you need to get your car fixed at a proper shop by working one 8 hour OT shift or so, why would you dedicate 2 or 3+ days to fixing it yourself to "save money"? People like that forget that time itself is money, and one should not be so quick to needlessly piss their own free time away either.
