It does pay to have friends that are good at photography. A good photo makes you stand out. I love my photographer friends. They always catch the best of me.
You are your thoughts. Life is perception, thoughts are perception, perception is reality ergo thoughts are reality, I think therefore I am.

You should have showed her tons of flat earth videos and asked her if Earth's Curvature is real or just Wide Angle Lens and Fisheye Lens Fakery AKA Barrel Distortion.

Photography isn't easy. Talk to any professional photographers and they'll tell you it takes years to master their craft.

How's that something that required formal education and a degree? You get good at photography by shooting lots of photos. In terms of learning from another person, you'd get more out of being an apprentice to a master than from sitting in a classroom.

Yes but you learn it by doing it.

There's no way anyone is stupid enough to spend money on a degree in photography. Although I guess people get fine arts and philosophy degrees.

Agreed and I think the formal education is a waste of time. I'm come from a family of photographers and we are all self taught. My youngest sister is a professional photographer and she's been doing it for decades. Spent years doing weddings, portrait and fashion. Traveled the world shooting models and teaching classes/seminars on occasion. She's also does retouching for other photographers. Her newest venture is drone portraiture/dark art...all self taught.

You don’t need to go to school to do anything with a camera

Watch YouTube videos and become a freelancer, start an Instagram and build a portfolio, travel, attract sponsors

Easier said than done, but I know a few people IRL who have success in photography and never paid for lessons. My cousin used to shoot for the Astros and got the job just based on networking and having a strong IG profile
