I’m convinced god has created more intelligent life . If they exist they are his creations too.

Maybe we are a colony of aliens that fooked things up and devolved to where we are now. Tons of stories of ancient civilizations with advanced technology, they could have been wiped out somehow and are the remnants.

The dishwasher did used to do a lot of ******* but it briefly made me consider how fun being a cult leader would be. But that gets to close to breaking the whole false idols etc.. commandment even though you could probably rig it to still fit within Christian scripture. Allegory is a hell of a word

Aka the Fermi paradox: space is infinite so life should be too. So where is it?
I like the answer Charles Stross’ answer from his book accelerando : any species that uses digital/internet is going to stay in local space where bandwidth is strongest, especially a hypothetical species that has uploaded from their physical bodies into a digital existence.

The real question with it comes from if you believe you can have infinite possibilities with finite number of lifespans (we do have a time limit)
Which leads you to reduce the question to free will Vs not free will theoretically, since you really have infinite creative possibilities if there is free will if not it’s limited.
But whatever feel free to show me where I’m being stupid. Keep in mind it’s all theory philosophy nonsense and so it most logic, that’s where the Rome got everything wrong. But it’s solid foundations for daydreaming.
I assume we were talking about that and not the fact that aliens will have to time travel. I assume we can all agree that’s a given.
But then again if they can time travel that destroys the first thing I said since two different planets of life existing in our plane of reality, but maybe the aliens just populate planets during their acceptable timeline for providing life?
Also wether consciousness comes internally or brains work like a receiver would alter things.

the radio waves we've been emitting for the last 100 years have traveled 100 light years. the next closest galaxy is 2.5million light years away.

To expand; we have one data point for life in the universe; earth. We have no idea how common, or rare it is, because we only have one example but what we can assume is that if it is quite a rare event (and looking at our local neighbourhood; i.e solar system, it is). Therefore; the probability of life will be directly proportional to how far life is from us. Even sending a signal across our galaxy at the speed of light will take 100,000 years, and this is the maximum theoretical speed for information under special relativity... and so if life is sufficiently rare that we wont see complex life more than once every few galaxies; it's not difficult to see why we haven't encountered it, and why we never will. This is compounded by the fact that everything not gravitationally bound to our local area is being pushed away faster than the speed of light by the expansion of the universe; and so more parts of the universe are becoming completely unreachable to us by any signal in principle. Or it could equally just be that there is no other life. The most reasonable idea is to admit we actually have very little idea, because we have only 1 data point for life and we've only been able to explore a tiny fraction of even our galaxy in detail (as in, in enough detail that we would see signs of life if it was there), let alone the universe.
Also, i'd argue it wouldn't 'only' take a few million years for life to colonise a galaxy, we have no idea it would take because we have no idea for example how close we can get to speed of light travel for macro sized objects, this makes far too many assumptions regarding technology. We have no idea what the development curve for a species is, if this level of colonisation is even possible or has any barriers, and ultimately where the hard limit for the laws of physics is. Lightspeed is theoretically possible for massless particles, but for animal sized macro objects? Who really knows how close we'll be able to reasonably get. If we assume there's a species more advanced than us that can send humans around at say, 30% of the speed of light, then it's going to take them millions of years to send humans across their galaxy, and that's without any of the time for life to grow, civilisation to grow, and then culture to advance to the level where the technology is available.
So personally, i think the sheer scale of the universe and the fact everything outside our local group is essentially unsearchable and more and more parts of the universe are in principle moving outside our reach (as well as the universe growing exponentially), renders my answer 'precisely because the universe is enormous' a valid one to the OP's question. You can also consider time as well, and consider that a species would need to be sending signals at the 'right time' to the 'right part' of the universe (where we are) for detection to occur, that it just becomes overwhelmingly unlikely we'd see anything.
Because of the reasons related to scale i've outlined above, i've never found the fermi paradox to be much of a paradox; rather i think the lack of life is exactly what you'd expect to see for a rare event in such an unfathomably huge space, much of which is moving away from us faster than the speed of light. Many physicists seem to share the same view that the fermi paradox is really not much of a paradox at all.
tend to hate misc physics threads these days though, but fun discussion.

I strongly believe that we're not alone in the universe. And the space-faring civilizations out there think we're a primitive, dumb species and want nothing to do with us.

1. An einstein-rosen bridge (a wormhole) would require a kind of 'negative' energy to keep it open which we have no good answer for atm. If wormholes exist, it's likely they only exist at the quantum level and will be completely unsuitable for anything in the 'macro' realm.
2. It's not clear we can 'do this' in principle. I've seen several papers showing what are known as 'closed timelike curves' (which are an artefact of certain solutions to einsteins field equations) which would allow you to traverse time in a similar way to the picture you've illustrated are only consistent in theory if they always existed, not if they are built.

With the number of planets that have characteristics to support life as we know it, and the age of the universe, it is easy for me to believe if life is on multiple planets, it will be MULTIPLE planets.
Not like Earth and one other planet on the other side of the universe, but multiple planets supporting life in each galaxy. I mean, there could be thousands in our own galaxy.
It is possible for that to be true and us still not have made contact. I imagine most “life” isn’t advanced enough to make contact on another planet, or in another solar system. On Earth for example, out of all of the hundreds of thousands of forms of life, exactly zero have had the intelligence/technology to be able to contact other solar systems.

The real question with it comes from if you believe you can have infinite possibilities with finite number of lifespans (we do have a time limit)

Also wether consciousness comes internally or brains work like a receiver would alter things.
