Favorite apocalyptic films?

Favorite apocalypse movie?

Anything world-ending, ideally somewhat similar to the day after tomorrow ie natural disasters. Feel free to suggest zombie/plague movies too. Ty misc

Brah, fck all that other noise.

The movie you want is The Road with Viggo Mortensen. Why? Because it's so realistic and not glorified or glamorous or dolled up.

It's simply a brutal description of how hopeless and soul-crushing this kind of existence is. You smell disgusting because you're wearing smelly old tattered clothes. You live in constant fear of your shoes disintegrating. Dinner consists of half an insect shared between you. Yes, half an insect.

The only people left are cannibals and rapists because everyone else starved to death long ago.

It's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen and it's not a horror.
Back off, Warchild.

The road is sooooooooo good but soooo dreary and depressing. But it's a must watch, and tbh the book is also a must read.

Werd. That movie is closest thing yet to an adaptation of the Fallout game series. The music by Atticus Ross, the washed out camera tones, the costumes, the general cinematography.

Just watched Greenland with Gerard Butler a couple weeks ago. It was pretty good.

Basically an earth destroying comet is on its way, but the whole story is told from Gerard Butler's family's perspective as opposed to a 30,000 foot view. So you learn your information the same way and time they do, in real time from TV, phone calls, news programs, etc. as they're going about their daily lives.

"These Final Hours" is one of the best apocalyptic movie I've seen and I'm recommending it because you've probably never heard of it. It's an Australian movie.

NGL but Deep Impact I think is an amazing movie. It may not fit into the category you're looking for, but I love post apocalyptic movies and this is like the scramble leading up to impending doom.

I would also highly suggest These Final Hours. It's an Aussie film after societal breakdown due to an extinction level asteroid. The whole movie builds up to a very powerful ending. I sat there for a moment right after the movie ended and was just like "fuuckk".
