Green comet will appear in the night sky for the first time since the Stone Age.
Why is this comet special?
“This particular comet is called C/2022 E3 (ZTF) and was discovered by astronomers in March 2022 at the Zwicky Transient Facility in California. It has been nicknamed “the green comet” because of its verdant glow, and is thought to have come from the Oort cloud – a collection of icy bodies that are believed to exist in the farthest-flung part of the solar system.
While some comets are relatively frequent visitors – Halley’s comet turns up every 76 years on average – C/2022 E3 (ZTF) orbits the sun every 50,000 years. In other words, the last time it could have been visible from Earth was in the stone age, when not just modern humans, but Neanderthals, too, may have directed their gaze starwards.”

Damn…won’t be back for 50,000 years and it’s cloudy here this week. If there’s a break I’ll check it out but not gonna get my hopes up.

already saw it, I think
downloaded the stellarium app to pinpoint it then used some binoculars in my back yard (I live in a place with low light pollution), it was a green smudge, still pretty cool considering all the stars are these bright objects and then there's a this weird faded green blur in the middle of space

This is such retarded pseudo-science. If the earth is flat and in an enclosed system where the stars and planets are just lights attached the the heavenly sphere--how the fuk does a "comet" (lol a ball of frozen ice and space dirt how fuking believable is that?) travel 50,000 years away and then return? Ridiculous. This whole thing is as preposterous as "sunrise" and "sunset."
