Is an IT Sales job a good "first job" for a 22 year old out of college?

Salary is 40K plus comission

A friend made 30K in comission his first year for a total of 70K in year 1

In year two, you typically cross 6 figures

So at 22 I'll make 70K and at age 23 I'll make 6 figures

Just wanna know if I'm on the right path compared to other people

Sales is one of the GOAT first jobs. It gives you applicable skills to a ton of industries and if you learn how to sell well, you can write your own ticket.

Watch what the high performers do and learn from them as much as you can. Learn how to build relationships as well and don't be afraid to get to know your clients really well, sometimes they will poach you into a much better position.

sales experience regardless of what field you plan on going into is an incredible asset to have. and IT sales is great especially fresh out of college.

sales can lead into lots of great other jobs once you get some experience.. I'd give it a shot an just stack your paper as well as get the life/job experience

I know a guy who came from a IT help desk job making below $50k/yr, to getting into cyber security as an analyst making $60k up to like $75k, then he went into cyber security sales and clears $300k+ a year due to the commission, he even got an offer at another company for the same role that gives a $85k vehicle (forgot the make and model) every year to the person with the most sales. This guy told me he has lied to the faces of prospective customers before too, as he fully understands the product and its pros/cons, limitations... the goal is the SALE, and sometimes pretending you don't know everything or giving misinformation here and there is what it takes to land the job. It can be soul sucking.

Point is IT sales is $$$$$$$$$. But it requires being sociable, doing presentations and sales pitches, understanding the product and giving demos or answering quick questions on the spot to executives from other businesses in meetings. It can be stressful, anxiety inducing, but if you've got the personality for it you can make a killing.

Talking over the phone is not a skill.

Maybe in western economies it could be interpreted as that, because western economies don't produce anything, but its not a skill.
