It seems that these balloons are quite large- payload equivalent to 2 city buses, so they *could* be weaponized. They fly higher than jets, but lower than satellites and are apparently not so easy to take out.

I think there was a video or post in the earlier thread about them being half as high up as satellites so they can "see" stuff that satellites can't.

Satelites can only get visual readings, balloons are close enough for IR, EM, sonar, lidar etc. Able to map topography and under ground structures
