that's when withdrawal kicks in, but if u can last another 3 days or so, it will just be a psychological battle after that

My wife and I did dry January. First week was the 'hardest' if you can call it that. After that it was a complete breeze.

Didn't notice too much difference or positives after 2-3 weeks..

Week 4 comes around and I look at the difference:
Saved around £400-500 (including snacks that I'd only have purchased if i was buying alcohol)
We both lost 7-8lbs each.
Had the BEST sleep that was uninterrupted.
Zero acid reflux/heart burn
Skin looked a lot healthier.
Made a lot more money - because even if i have like 1-2 pints of cider or beer at a pub lunch, I would "switch off" and not want to work anymore.

Feb 3rd or something, we share a bottle of wine.
Both didnt like the feeling at all, felt odd. Not pleasurable. Woke up with a killer hangover.

Drank two more separate times since then, not heavily - but its a NO from me.

Acid reflux / bloat from alcohol.
horrible night sleep.
Way over on my calories (prefer eating food than drinking empty calories that dont fill me up)

Neither of us will probably drink heavily again. We will just have a glass of champagne to toast at weddings etc.

Also, I noticed that all my goals/targets seemed to come at me really quickly.

Didn’t drink at all this year until yesterday. Felt amazing. Had one glass of wine and felt giggly for a bit. Then I felt it bloating me. Definitely adapting the barely drinking lifestyle. I like myself more without it.

i've quit a small variety of drugs and alcohol before and never have celebrated. i guess i wanted a taste of what many before me had done and how it made them feel. did anyone ask them how they felt about the celebration they had online? what did they do before the internet to let their friends know? i don't suppose many people would send out letters to their friends like it was a holiday, but maybe some people did. how eccentric, love that. i think the rest of us would have shared it in a group setting, whether living in one or going out to one. i haven't tried the aa myself but i have sat through meetings and i never felt sure of calling myself and alcoholic

Going on 10 months sober.

tbh, you have no business even talking about it for at least the first couple weeks of being sober. If you are truly an alchy, you won't start understanding what sobriety is for about that long, which means you've had time to clear withdrawls and such.

Also, beware of the "pink cloud". When you start experiencing pink clouding (where you can begin experiecing what feels like stretches of sobriety induced euphoria, mental clarity, confidence/enthusiasm about recovery, etc.) after going a few days or more without alcohol, it's a pretty strong indicator that you've got some strong alcoholic tendancies brewing at a minum. The kind of issues that will be substantial enough to eventually cause problems in your life if you don't get a handle on it.

yeah, my place has been messy and the cleaning and the cooking in the clean area has been making me feel good. i still haven't done the bathroom, but it would feel really good brushing my teeth with a spotless mirror and counter with no hairs and the smell of bleach and no blinking bulbs. and i will have to go to the gym, my faraway uncle won't allow me not to go if he is to continue sending me my allowance

Did Dry jan, wanted to do longer but failed this past weekend. Was out at dinner with the lady, she had a couple glasses, I then said fukk it and ordered a gin and diet tonic. And then I kept going from there.

Going to go dry again till March. It's pretty ez if there's not much going on socially, and the benefits are good, but once the warmer months roll around and there are holidays and stuff to do every weekend it's very hard and drinking within reason is fun

Was drinking far too much last year though and will try and reduce the amount regardless
