The Three Body Problem - Chinese TV Version

The books form one of my favorite sci-fi series and feature some really interesting concepts. Netflix is producing its own adaptation, but the Chinese has beaten them on the release date.
I've seen 5 episodes and and apart from the omission of the lengthy political intro the series seems to stay true to the book, something I doubt Netflix will do.
The first season of the Chinese version is 30 episodes long, and Netflix adaption has only 8 episodes. While some may find the Chinese pacing a bit slow, I don't think that 8 episodes really can't do it justice.

When that's said I will watch them both.

If you like sci-fi I would at least give it 3 episodes to see if it peaks your interest, and yeah here is a link to a free stream:

Heard about the books ages ago apparently pretty good.

Will probably wait for netflix version though. I watch a lot of foreign shows, but cant handle slow pacing. My attention span is shot.

Yes the pacing can be quite slow especially when the protagonist is trying to solve/figure out stuff, I guess it's another way to tell a story that is not very common any longer in western film.

Yes the viki link in the op has subs. There are no gender policies in this series, but funnily I think they censored the country names USA and UK, calling them Country A and Country T or some **** like that. Hopefully it's not too full of Chinese nationalism.

I was told by a friend that there was a lot of ads which is a bit weird since I can't remember getting them, perhaps they are only in the beginning of the first episode and I somehow forgot about them.

The dark forest theory is spot on to how we should proceed when exploring the universe.

You know Netflix will butcher the story with their woke BS.

tried reading the book, it was really fuking annoying and I dropped it. Was the equivalent of a first year PHD student jerking off about computers and physics for hours on end. I couldn't stand it. No idea how anybody finished that book. Maybe its a translation thing.

Not gonna lie, the first part of the book (atleast 1/3) is kinda tough to get through. They kinda skipped that part in the series, just some small glimpses back in time.

I love how people talk about "Chinese nationalism" like it's worse than American nationalism. Lmfao

It should be some nationalism, there was in the books as well, but if it goes over the top smearing other countries that would diminish this serie.

I'm about 7 episodes in and all in all there seems to be less political influences than in most western series.

The books were such a slog to get thru, bored to death reading them.
